Yves Rocher Secret d’Essences Neroli EDP Perfume Review

Yves Rocher Neroli perfume

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume

I’ve been very open about my love of all things roses. But, I have been less vocal about my love of all things orange blossom and neroli. I don’t even have a type. I’ll wear a  fresh, green neroli just as often as I’ll wear a sweet, syrupy orange blossoms. I love a classic “eau de cologne” and perfumes that basically smell like a splash of orange blossom water in mineral water. One of these days, I’ll put together a list of the orange blossom perfumes that I own, but until then, I’ll provide a teaser. Yves Rocher Secret d’Essences Neroli is going to be on that list.

Neroli opens as a tangy orange with green leaves. As it wears, it becomes a tangy neroli and I swear I pick up on a lemon zest as well. It wears as neroli with a peppery greenness paired with a floral sweetness from orange blossom. It wears linear but that’s never been an issue for me. Most of the time, I like to wear a perfume that I don’t think about. Most of the wear of Neroli is bright citrus blossoms and white musk until it fades away into thin air.

Wearing this takes me to the Italian Riviera where I imagine myself wearing white linen and sipping negronis. We all need a little more Italian Riviera holiday fantasy in our lives.

Yves Rocher Neroli isn’t an original fragrance in that it doesn’t offer anything new and spectacular to the world of neroli perfumes, but it’s a great perfume for the price. As far as neroli soliflores go, this is one of my favorites. You can spend a lot more to get a fragrance like this, but you don’t have to!

Notes listed include bitter orange, neroli, orange blossom and musk. Launched in 2013. PERFUMER – Veronique Nyberg

Give Neroli a try if you like neroli perfumes or fresh, citrus scents that have a bit of sweetness. Or if you like perfumes like Atelier Cologne Grand Néroli, Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Blanca, Tom Ford Private Blends Neroli Portofino, Detaille Cherubin, Malle Cologne Indélébile, By Kilian Prelude to Love and/or Annick Goutal Neroli.

Projection and longevity is below average. It wears more like an EDT.

The 1.7 oz retails for $72 and there’s also an affordable mini at Yves Rocher. This brand is always running sales so if you plan it right you could pick up a full-size bottle for under $50.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONFresh, bitter neroli with a sweet white musk. Fragrances like this are my definition of crisp and clean. My only complaint is that it doesn’t last on the skin. But, I’ve tried fragrances in this genre that are much more expensive that don’t last either. At Yves Rocher’s price, I’m fine with this.

Oh, and if you’ve tried the bath/body products, please let me know if those are worth buying. Yves Rocher doesn’t have stores in the US, so I don’t have the luxury of sniffing things before I buy them. If they’re anything like the perfume, I want them.

  1. Great review, I love neroli as a note but thought YR Neroli too fleeting as well. Having tried other YR body products like the Rose Absolue ones from this series I can highly recommend them. The fragrance of the body products is true to the perfume which is not always the case. They are worth buying!

    1. I have tried the other body products from the d’Essences line and love them. Like you said, they actually smell like the perfumes! I was very surprised by this. I’m curious if one can even smell the fragrances in the Neroli body products :S
