Weekly World Fumes – Week of 8/9/2012

This summer has been crazy for me and I’ve missed many weeks of Weekly World Fumes. I’m trying to get back in the swing of things. So, here we go. Here’s Weekly World Fumes but without a video.

Creed Royal Oud EDP

Celeb Gossip:

Leighton Meester is the new face for Vera Wang’s newest scent, Lovestruck Floral Rush (not Floral Rash).

Olympic swimmer, Ryan Lochte, tweeted that his favorite fragrances are by CREED. CREED is really favored by the male Olympians it seems. Wonder how much those promoted tweets cost? πŸ˜‰

Chanel Coco Noir EDP

New Launches:

I can’t wait to try Chanel Coco Noir. The bottle is gorgeous. The notes include grapefruit, bergamot, rose, jasmine, narcissus, geranium leaves, tonka beans, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla and incense. I think I may need this. Have I mentioned that I love that bottle?

Crabtree & Evelyn Blue Himalayan is a fragrance inspired by the mythical “blue poppy” (watch out Coach might sue!). Notes include mandarin, orange leaf, lemon, ginger, rose, champaca, wildflowers, pink pepper, Lapsang Souchong, sandalwood, and patchouli. I’m trying my best to imagine what this one could smell like. Champaca and tea that smells like a country smoked ham?

Isaac Mizrahi launches Fabulous, his first fragrance. It includes notes of mandarin, nectarine, bergamot, jasmine, peony, freesia, tuberose, sandalwood, vanilla and cedar. (Not very fabulous sounding). The bottle is “art deco”. Um, maybe it’s “art deco” for the Claire’s crowd.

Providence Perfume Divine Noir is a “darker” version of the original Divine. It includes notes of bitter orange, coriander, bergamot, orange blossom, neroli, jasmine, rose, oakmoss, angelica, vanilla bean, elemi and aged patchouli. This all-natural perfume sounds good to me. I hope to have a review up soon πŸ™‚

Etat Libre d’Orange will launch Dangerous Complicity in October. This fragrance contains notes of rum, ginger, bay essence, coconut, calamus, osmanthus, jasmine, ylang ylang, lorenox, patchouli, leather accord, sandalwood and cashmere woods.

Givenchy perfumes

Perfume News:

There’s big money in perfume. $1.2 million worth of Givenchy perfume was stolen in France but recovered. Oh, the perfume mafia!

Samsung patents a mobile phone that sprays perfume. I’m all for this πŸ™‚

EauMG Etc.:

This past week my cousin and her girlfriend were in town. That kept me busy doing the entertaining and tourist stuff. Frink is in love with her and her girlfriend. Like seriously, he loves them more than he loves me.

My house was officially listed last week. Nobody is interested in it all and that is slightly depressing. But, I can’t say that I find it surprising.

It seems that every perfume I’ve tested this week is oud based. As if I wasn’t already oud’d out…

The rest of the week I’ve been playing catch up. I’m getting a client’s product ready for NYFW and getting all the fall stuff ready.

And next week I’m off to NYC! Until next time, I’ll smell you later!

  1. Chanel’s bottle IS gorgeous… And that’s all I’m saying πŸ˜‰

As a perfume fan my first knee-jerk reaction to the scented phone news was “Great!” but then I looked at my 2.5 y.o. phone that I plan on using until it’s not working any longer, remembered my previous one (I had it for 5 or 6 years)… Nah, I want to change my perfumes much more often πŸ˜‰

    1. Are you saying that it’s all about the bottle with this fragrance? πŸ™‚

I have the “old timey” iPhone. I can’t stand buying new phones unless the old one is completely dead. I haven’t really paid attention to the Samsung design. I assumed one could switch out the perfume, but I guess not?

    1. Hope to get back in the swing with the videos. I try to keep them quick. I find that if a video is over 5 minutes, I’m not paying attention anymore πŸ™‚

  2. Echoing exactly what Karen said: I love your Weekly World Fumes reports and have missed them (and am looking forward to having the video version again, when you’re caught up. The video really makes it!)

Here’s wishing you good luck with getting your house sold, Victoria. I’ve always gotten the impression that you put a lot of work into making it look good (I remember you mentioning painting certain rooms) and as you are a woman of taste, I bet that yours is probably one of the nicer looking homes on the market. Will cross my fingers for you that it sells sooner than you think.

    1. It’s nice to know that I’m not annoying on video, lol.

The selling of this house is bittersweet. Total restoration and it finally looks like something I want to live in. It really is a cute place (but I’m biased since I did the decorating, etc.) I love the place but it is so far from husband’s job. He spends over 4 hours a day commuting πŸ™ If it sells, it sells. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. We’ll wait until next year. There are worse problems to have!
