Here’s Weekly World Fumes for April 4th, 2013:
Celeb Gossip:
Armani paid Cate Blanchett $10 million USD to be the face of Armani fragrances or maybe it’s an Armani fragrance. Who cares?
New Launches:
Marc Jacobs will launch Honey with such notes of fruit punch, orange blossom, honeysuckle, honey and vanilla. The bottle is a very twee bee.
BPAL is launching a collection of perfumes inspired by the artwork of preschoolers. Proceeds will be donated to First Book, an organization that distributes books to programs and schools that serve low-income children in the U.S. and Canada.
Thirdman has launched Eau Nomade. It’s an eau de cologne with notes of cardamom, lemon and blood orange. I smelled this in January. It’s a really sheer green cardamom.
Comptoir Sud Pacifique will launch the Voyages en Orient collection that features five perfumes: Jasmin Poudré, Épices Sultanes, Bois Royal, Oudh Sensuel, y Oudh Intense.
Eau d’Italie has launched Acqua Decima with notes of lemon, mandarin, mint leaves, neroli, petitgrain, hedione, white wood and vetiver. Is “aqua” back?
Perfume News:
Olfatif is a new monthly perfume subscription program that launched this week. It’s $18 for three samples. The April box contained L’Artisan Parfumeur Voleur de Rose, Imaginary Authors Soft Lawn and Sonoma Scent Studio Fig Tree.
Creative director, Nicola Formichetti, is no longer with Mugler. Listen up, Womanity was not that bad.
Oh, Olfactive Studio has launched in the U.S. and is available at Bergdorf.
EauMG Etc.:
It’s been a busy week for me. My house is proof of that.
My sister had her baby last Sunday. She finally named him days later. She did not name him Mario Lopez. Disappointing.
I’m going to a Dina Martina show tonight. That should be the best thing that happened to me all week…other than the nephew being born and stuff.
This week I’ve been craving La Nouvelle Vague-ish heavy eyeliner paired with big hair, black botija olives, powdery perfumes and embarrassingly cheesy French disco. Have a great weekend!
This is Victoria signing off and until next time, I’ll smell ya later!
Victoria, loved the video and hearing all the news…on my way to Los Angeles this week and Sent Bar is my number one stop. You have given me some Ideas! So Thanks!
As for review request…lest see. How about (If you haven’t already done them) a few ideas, Fou D’Absenth by L’Artisan Parfumeur, Mitzah by Dior Collection Privee, Mohur by Neela Vermiere, Anything by that wonderful house out of Portland Imaginary Authors. Chanel 1932, Balain de Balmain, Miss Dior Originale, Flor y Canto by Arquiste, Field Notes From Paris by Ineke…. There should be something in there you might want to review.
Cheers

Have fun in LA! They have quite a few new releases in now that seem worth sniffing.
Good list. I have reviewed a few of those years ago. I would like to revisit and do a video, maybe a follow-up. AND I keep getting asked about 1932, so I need to get on that.
Yes get on that 1932~ I really would love your take on it.

Hi Victoria,
Thanks for the round up! Love your hair and makeup in this video.
I’ve been curious about a perfume house from New Orleans called Hove perfumes. I heard about them on you tube video, but never sampled any. I’d be interested in what you think:

(I’m not affiliated in any way, just curious about them)
Thank you.
Wow! Here’s a line that I have never heard of before! I need to check them out. Thank you for sharing 🙂
let’s see. Love ,Love ,Love Dina. Enjoy. Always want to try BPAL, get lost in their website-go back to reading Neil Gaiman. reboot and try again. But preschoolers may be a close second. Comptoir and no vanilla. Hard to believe. Aqua went away? Have a little difficulty reconciling aqua with the ‘smell of dead fish in the morning’ close to the train station here in Seattle. Looking forward to my samples of Olfactive Studio from Lucky Scent. You would rock the heavy eyeliner. Go for it!
OMG. The Dina show was amazing. Dina is a amazing. Dan Savage was there. His husband’s hair is amazing.
Confession – I haven’t tried any BPAL because I don’t know how to use the site. My ADD kicks in big time and then well, I don’t remember what I do next.
I like to pretend that aqua went away. It didn’t. I have aqua issues to but you know, I love the smell of a fish market and an oyster-y bay. And the Seattle ferry terminals have the best smell in the summer – French fries, oil and oysters.
I have a feeling that Comptoir will throw in some vanilla with this new collection. I can’t imagine them doing anything different.
Love your blog. Would be interested in seeing a review of Penhaligon’s Peoneve and also Atelier cologne’s Rose Anonyme. I just can’t make my mind up about the latter. Your hair is awesome in the video by the way.
OK, I can make the Peoneve review happen 😉 I still need to spend more time with Rose Anonyme…
Thank you
Love the hair – curl and color. 🙂
Two scents.. well, you know I am going to extreme.
I would love to see you do a time lapse review of Illuminum Black Musk over two days.
And just because its cliche – how about Secretion Magnifique – and we can make a mashup of you and Miss Puckrik

Thanks.
You know I haven’t reviewed Black Musk yet and that is a really good idea.
I think all reviewers have to do SM 😉
