It’s time for me to tell you that I love Villainess Soaps. They are highly fragrant, aesthetically pleasing, lather nicely and leave the skin lightly fragranced. I also love the packaging and the look of the entire line. Here’s my review of two of the more “boozy” scents:
Blood – “Merlot grounded in dry fig and inspired by a ripe bouquet of berries“. Blood is a fresh fig poached in tart red wine. It’s dark and mysterious. Blood isn’t overly “fruity” because it’s slightly fermented making it easily unisex as well. The bar itself is a pretty rusty shade.
Jai Mahal – “Four rich vanillas, tonka, Mysore sandalwood, bourbon and coconut, expensive woods, incense and imported spices – cedar, amber, myrrh, cardamom, and nutmeg.” Jai Mahal is a spicy scent, but not like a chai. It actually reminds me of spiced rum being transported in oak barrels, aging. There’s a smoothness to Jai Mahal. Very nice and unisex. The bar itself is a latte and cream swirl shade.
I would repurchase either scent. Blood is very early “autumn” to me. My husband loves the scent of Jai Mahal; it fits with his love of tiki cocktails. It’s a rum-running fragrance.
3.5 oz soap bars retail for $5.50 and are available at Villainess.
