Viktoria Minya Hedonist EDP Perfume Review

Viktoria Minya Hedonist perfume

I’ve never enjoyed the company of those that intentionally denied themselves pleasure. These are the people I’ve learned to avoid on this journey throughout life. I’m a committed hedonist until the day I die.

Viktoria Minya is a Hungarian perfumer residing in the tantalizing city of Paris. Hedonist is the first perfume to launch in her namesake line. A name like “Hedonist” is a lot to live up to when you’re selling to card carrying pleasure-seekers. But, I think Viktoria nailed it.

Hedonist is one of the few perfumes that when I wear it, I close my eyes and breathe it in. It’s my time and it’s my moment. Get away. It’s intoxicating. Rum, honey and stewed peaches. Breathe deeper. Vanilla pipe tobacco and orange blossom tea. My eyes are still closed and I’m still having my moment. Leave me alone. It all is seamless, a whirling tapestry of ripe peaches, white florals, rum and Cuban cigars that is held together by gilded threads. Hedonist fades into a rich, woodsy vanilla.

Notes listed include rum, bergamot, peach, jasmine, orange flower, osmanthus, tobacco, vetiver, cedar and vanilla. Launch date 2013. PERFUMER – Viktoria Minya

Give Hedonist a try if you like honey fragrances or peach fragrances. Or if you like perfumes like By Kilian Back to Black, Etat Libre d’Orange Noel au Balcon, Dior Poison, Mugler Alien, INeKe Sweet William and/or MAC Naked Honey (RIP). You’ve got to try this one if you are a fan of honey in perfume.

Projection and longevity are above average. The projection is like that of an EDP and longevity is more like that of a pure parfum.

The 1.5 oz bottle retails for $195 at Luckyscent (US) and Viktoria Minya. Samples are also available for purchase.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONSolar honey, ripe peaches, white florals and vanilla tobacco. Hedonist gets this pleasure-seeker’s seal of approval. It smells so amazing on my skin that I’m not even going to complain about the price. In fact, Hedonist crosses the line from hedonist to voluptuary. It’s luxurious.

    1. I absolutely love the idea of Back to Black but it goes straight to baby powder on my skin but the opening is rather nice.

This is what I was looking for but didn’t know I was looking for 🙂

  1. “It all is seamless, a whirling tapestry of ripe peaches, white florals, rum and Cuban cigars that is held together by gilded threads.”

So true, Victoria. I think Hedonist has be one of the most beautiful perfumes launched this year.

And note to Lanvanya, I’ll send you some!!

    1. Maybe it’s my current mood but this one is just perfect for me right now. It’s everything that I’ve been wanting in a perfume.

  2. Wonderful review and going on the to-try list, even though I can’t afford it!
I love Back to Black and have back-ups of Naked Honey (RIP).

    1. Pretty much as far as honey goes, nothing was better than Naked Honey (especially in that price range). I regret not buying an extra bottle of it. Oh, well! Live and learn.

I think since you like Back to Black and Naked Honey that you should try this. Yeah, it’s expensive but even a sample is worth having to wear on special occasions.

    1. I have not seen it in person so I have to go by others’ accounts. It’s available at Scent Bar in L.A. and a perfume pal said the presentation is “perfect”. I would imagine it is along the lines of By Kilian with the box and stuff.

I’m not one to care too much about packaging but at this price, it better be “perfect”. 😉

    1. I could see it working despite the fruity-floral stuff. I think pairing it with something dry, cedar-y would make it grow some stubble.
