I thought I’d keep you guys posted regarding some personal things going on in my life right now. I mentioned in my February 2015 Favorites that we’re moving this month.
My spouse accepted a job in Hoboken, New Jersey and we’re moving to the NYC area this month. In true Casa d’EauMG fashion, we did this rather impulsively and quickly. I found out last Friday and we’re moving in a week. We don’t have a place to live yet. I don’t have a job yet. But, it’s something we’ve talked about and we’ve jumped on this opportunity. And well, we’ve been wanting a change. It seems like a better time than ever.
We’ve been in the Seattle area since 2008, so as you can imagine, we have a lot of stuff to sort out before moving. I need to sell stuff, thrift stuff and pack what can’t be easily replaced. I’ve also got to sort a lot of other stuff out and plan for the move. I won’t be posting as regularly to EauMG due to lack of time. Hopefully, I’ll feel like posting again once we’ve settled. In fact, life is already so chaotic that I can’t wait for it to settle down!
When I first started EauMG, I had moved from Nashville to Seattle. We didn’t have any jobs or any place to live. It turned out great for us in the long run. I still really love Seattle. It’s a beautiful place with cool stuff to do. But, my favorite parts of the area are the people I’ve met and the relationships that I’ve formed throughout the years. When you plan a big move, you think about the things that you’ll miss. But, it’s never things that you’ll miss. It’s the people. Landmarks, entertainment and restaurants are all replaceable but people aren’t. Leaving my friends will be the most difficult. But, absence makes the heart grow fonder. And my heart is big.
Until next time, I’ll smell ya later!

Victoria,
Congratulations on your move. If you ever want to visit Boston, give me ring. I hope that you are going to keep up your blog, I would really miss your postings.
Sara
Thanks!
Boston is one of those weekend trips that we have planned for one of these days.
Hopefully things will be back to normal-ish by mid-April. I have to set goals for myself, lol.
Good luck with the move, it sounds like the perfect thing to do, so exciting! I hope to see you back on EauMG soon.
Thank you!
I’m operating in stress-mode and can’t wait for things to get back to being more normal-ish. Sniffing perfumes again will feel like such a luxury!
Good luck with the move! All of your feelings re: Seattle resonate with me. I moved therein 2008, too! Have fun in NY! It’ll be marvelous, I’m sure!
I didn’t realize you moved here the same year too 🙂
I really hope it’s worth it. I’m finally starting to have those feelings of excitement instead of feeling completely overwhelmed.
Seattle is loosing one of it’s most beautiful blooms!
i had really hoped to get back out there and terrorize Capital Hill with you one day!
Quicksilver settling down in your new life.. we will be waiting eagerly for news.
I’m really going to miss Seattle. It’s a wonderful place with wonderful people. It’s one of the few places where I’m surrounded by other folks that sure think a lot like I do. I think I may have started taking that for granted.
But, it’s time for something new. I want to at least try living on the East Coast for a short time. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and now seems to be the time to do it! Plus, there’s a lot of cosmic aligning happening this month 😉
Hi Victoria, I am usually more of a lurker on your website but I’ve come out of hiding to wish you luck. I’ve been reading your reviews for the past year. They provide me with much enjoyment and relaxation at the end of a hectic workday! So good luck finding a great place to live and a wonderful job. Of course, I selfishly hope that you return to your blog once you’ve settled in. I’m in Rhode Island not too far from Providence Perfume.
Thank you so much for reading! Thank you!!!!
I hope to travel to Providence one of these days. I’d also love to see Charna’s shop in person.
Congratulations on the move. Sounds like a wonderful adventure, and I hope that you’ll keep us posted. And hey, you have been talking about wardrobe downsizing, so this is one way to do it!
I have 🙂 When we moved to this rental, I really, really purged a lot. Now all my clothes won’t work with that NE weather, so it’s a good reason to have a wardrobe “do over” 🙂
All the best. I’m moving to the same area in June. I’ve lived there before and I’ve missed it so much.
Awesome! I’ve only visited, never lived there. It’s nice to know that you think it’s worth moving back to 🙂 I can’t wait to get in and explore the area.
Good luck with everything! Sure the move and all the details will work out and go smoothly. And, it will be great having you on the east coast! I’d happily take the bus up to NYC from DC to go on a fragrance/beauty adventure if you decide you’d like to lead one!
That would be fun!
It just hit me today that I will actually be in town for Sniffapalooza. I’ve never been to one of those before and I know a lot of perfume lovers make the trip for that 🙂
I also can’t wait to do weekend trips to places like DC!
What a great move. Good luck – I know how stressful they can be. We moved from NZ to France on a whim (with 2 small kids) and it was so stressful getting here that I was working 20 hours a day for about 2 weeks. However it was worth it once we got to that sun in the South of France. Looking forward to your next blog post …. Breathe ….
I find it comforting that you lived to tell the tale! It gives me hope and reminds me of how temporary this overwhelming stage actually is. Thank you for the encouragement!
At least you will be moving after all the bitter cold and snow we have had here in NJ. Good luck and best wishes! I hope you will blog again eventually. You will have lots of great stores to visit in NYC eventually with lots of perfume!
These winters are going to shock me for sure. I’m sort of cheating and getting two springs this year 🙂
I’ll be back at it eventually. Right now is so busy and a lot of my stuff will be in storage until we get a place. I can’t wait to settle in and go sniffing!
Wow…one week that’s incredible. Good luck with the move and welcome to the east coast!
I’m so stressed right now but I think in the long run that it’ll be a good move for us 🙂
Hi Victoria,
lots of succes and we will hopefully miss your blogs only for a short while. But we can wait:):):) I hope the cats will agree with their new home!!!
Thank you! We’re making progress 🙂
Good luck with the move and take great care of your perfumes!
You both are very brave and I hope it’ll work out for you again.
I hope the perfumes make it to the final destination safely. It makes me so nervous.
Thank you. I hope it works out fine!
Welcome to the east coast! I’m in Massachusetts. Good luck with the move and I hope you enjoy you new locale. I can’t wait to hear all about it on the blog.
Thank you. We’re here and I’ll think I’ll enjoy it more once the weather warms up some 🙂 I’ve forgotten how to dress for cold weather.
Good luck with the move! NYC is a great place! Have a lovely time! Greets, London Removals Ltd.
Great news! Moving is always exciting! Have a great time!
It is! It’s stressful but exciting too.
Thanks!
I’m a little belated but congrats on the move! I’m planning on moving there for a couple of weeks with my boyfriend – it’s a dream of mine to see the NYC, especially at night!
Thank you!
Hope you enjoy your time here! I’m sure you’ll have a blast!
