The Lipstick League – week of 8.17.15
Question of the Week: What do you think of the current ‘90s revival in beauty and fashion?
EauMG’s Answer: I love it. I’m getting older so I was going to be nostalgic for my “younger” days anyway. I also think it’s very flattering to see the young’uns thinking my generation was so darn cool. And in reality, we weren’t really. But, I think it’s flattering, cute and naive. And lip liner is back so I feel comfortable living in this world again. When it comes to clothes, I’ve moved forward but I sure love clunky heels and Dr. Martens. I’ll never let those go.

I wore my share of brownish and darkish lip shades, lip liner, black boots, and flannel plaid shirts in the 90’s. Nostalgic trends can be fun to see, just as long as light beige lipstick paired with dark brown lip liner and super skinny brows don’t make a come back.
I always like this stuff because there is always a new take. It’s rarely “authentic”.
Oh, I’m a die-hard, unapologetic lover of dark lip liner and light lipstick. I never outgrew it. I know it’s trashy but that’s why I love it.
I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic as well (I will say, I rocked the brown lipstick!). But I think I’ll stay away from the super matte face now, as my skin does nooot look good with that (and I’ll keep my brows and do something more with my hair than having piece-y bangs and butterfly clips). Seriously glad that a lot of the colours are coming back though 😀
Super matte face is not a good look for me either. I love dewy finishes.
I do like that this trend has made finding brown lipsticks much easier 🙂
I agree! I have UD’s “1993” which I was pleasantly surprised with. I thought it was too dark at first but it’s actually really pretty. Also, because my skin is no longer teenaged, I have to have some moisture in face makeup. Thank god for bb and cc creams!
BB/CC/Tinted whatevers, those things are miracles for me. And rather have some shine any day rather than flat matteness.
I still want 1993. Haven’t bought it yet.
