The Lipstick League – week of 7.4.11
Question of the Week: – What’s a beauty trend that you wish would go away?
EauMG’s Answer: In the fragrance world – celebrity scents. We’re all sick of them. Why do they keep showing up? I can’t believe I’m saying this, but oud. It’s over. It’s dead. It’s the new pink pepper. It’s a shame, but it should go away for at least 6 more years. And the other thing I’m sick of is all of these nouveau niche brands popping up, giving us complete crap in a $200+ bottle and silly adcopy that is usually meant to shock and maybe offend. In beauty – I am sooo sick of the smoky eye. I thought that was completely dead in 2002. But, it won’t go away. And I’m sick of flat hair. It seems to go hand in hand with the smoky eye. I thought they both died 10 years ago.
Beauty Junkies Unite – Amber shares the entire Dolce & Gabbana Italian Summertime makeup collection, is there anything here you find swoon-worthy?
Clumps of Mascara – can’t take her hands off of Milani’s limited edition Paint palette.
EauMG – reviews a spicy, garden fresh fragrance by L’Artisan Parfumeur.
Lipglossiping – puts the stamp of approval on FIVE of the hottest pink lipsticks for Summer!
Nouveau Cheap – shows you all six palettes in the Wet n Wild limited edition Dream Weavers collection. Is it cheesy to say these shadows are “out of this world”?
Orange to LA – discovers another highlighter to add to her collection. This time it’s Chanel Pearl Glow Powder (Poudre Lumiere Perlee), from the new Chanel Le Blanc Collection. She loves it, will you?
Pink Sith – Joeybunny shows you how beautiful the NYX Nude On Nude Palette can be, and why she loves it so!
Phyrra – extols the virtues of Holika Holika Essential Petit BB Cream SPF 30 PA++. See what caused her to fall in love with it!
Vampy Varnish – Thinks the new MAC Colourizations Eyeshadow Pro Palette x2 are pretty cool!
we heart this – Damn it feels good to be a beauty blogger! Especially after seeing MAC’s Bloggers’ Obsessions.
The buzz in the land of perfume –
- BBC aired their 2nd episode of Perfume The Documentary. It was very interesting and took a look at perfumers and their art.
- Kat Von D will be launching her 3rd scent at Sephora, Poetica, read about it at Now Smell This. Aren’t we over celebrity scents? And aren’t we over reality TV star scents?! I’m only interested if Tim Gunn comes out with a fragrance.
- Last week Designer Perfumes bought out Jean Patou perfumes. Basenotes reports that Designer is looking for a new in-house perfumer for Jean Patou.
- Fumeheads around the world have been receiving the new Chanel No. 19 Poudré and Shalimar Initial. It’s interesting to hear about these new perfumes based on old French perfumes from old French houses. I know I’m interested.
