The Lipstick League – week of 5.13.13
We’d also like to take a moment to congratulate our very own Phyrra for five years of beauty blogging! To commemorate the event, she’s hosting a mega-givewaway here that you don’t want to miss.
Question of the Week – Tell us about a funny makeup/beauty mistake you have made…or care to admit to?
EauMG’s Answer – There have been too many times where I realize once I get home that I’ve been walking around with one false eyelash still attached. And some may call this a big mistake but I never will…lip liner. I flip’n love lip liner even the visible unnatural looking stuff. I know this makes me lose all makeup cred but I don’t care. And I’ll admit that back in the day (party like it’s 1999, ya’ll) I’d wear lip liner darker than my brows and pair it with a nude lipstick and top with gloss. I was drag-tastic.
My Beauty Bunny – has a fabulous guest post from the Lipstick League’s Clumps of Mascara sharing the 5 Best Cruelty-Free Beauty Brands for Women of Color. Trust us, ladies of every complexion will love these colorful choices!
Nouveau Cheap – the best multi-tasker to come out this year is also limited edition. Here’s why you need the new Milani Shadow Eyez in Almond Cream (but hurry before it’s gone).
Prime Beauty – takes a look at the Lancôme Summer 2013 Color Design Eye Show Palette. The colors are so summery you’ll want to dive right in, PLUS she has a Lancôme giveaway to give your skin a luminous summer glow!

I guess we can lose our makeup cred together because I love lip liner too and I’ll admit there was a time when I rocked some Barbie doll blue eye shadow and liner. I was young and stupid so I think I’ll be forgiven.
Hey, it’s functional too! I guess what bothers me is how can one go around making fun of drawn on lips when what is in style with the young’uns right now is drawing a big black circle around your eyes with eyeliner. I mean, that will be “dated” too.
You’re forgiven 🙂 So yesterday I was out and about and this girl was sporting Barbie blue eyeshadow. I was shocked because it looked good. Of course, she is over a decade younger than me and our complexions are nothing alike so I couldn’t do that. But, that girl should continue doing that.
I’ve never worn lip liner but I am considering starting to because as I enter my 30s I notice lipstick bleed a lot more. Tell me, wise Victoria: will lip liner help?
I NEVER NEVER NEVER wear eye liner though. EVER. My eyes are big enough as is. Eyeliner tends to give me crazyeyes.

I think it helps. They even make clear ones. And a good neutral isn’t too difficult to find. I really like Rimmel 1000 Kisses in Natural. Cheap and works.
If I ever wear liner on my bottom lashes, my husband says I have “crazy eyes”. Or “crazy mean eyes”. Maybe I can use this to my advantage like those moths with big “eyes” on their wings to intimidate predators 😉
