The Lipstick League – week of 5.28.18

Question of the Week: What do you think of the metallic lip trend? Tell us your faves!

EauMG’s Answer: I’m a self-diagnosed lipstick addict. Because of this, I love all lip trends. New metallics look less 1980’s or 90’s Pamela Anderson because of their matte finish. Personally, I like the dated, metallic creamy looks! Why? Because I like comfortable lip products. However, there are some New Metallics that I really like. One is a lip powder by Sephora that is being discontinued (try it while you can! It’s only $5!). Red Hot is a metallic red with a soft matte, modern finish. You can also wear over liquid mattes or cream lipsticks to add dimension. I personally like them sloppily applied because they have a nice soft metallic finish. Another formula I like for its full-on “metallic trend all up on your face” appeal is Touch in Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo. One side is a metallic liquid lipstick, the other a metallic gloss. These can be worn together or alone. Either way looks oddly modern and not like the stuff I remember from the late 90’s/early 00s.  I love the shade “Penny”, a rose gold, and pair it with matte taupe eye looks. And finally, it’s not glamorous or new but like I said earlier, I like a creamy metallic – Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick. I love the shades Cherry Frost, a metallic cherry red, and Sunset Peach, a retro peach with gold shimmer. These are $1 and actually make my lips look good instead of like dried out pencil eraser shards.
