The Lipstick League – week of 4.18.16
Question of the Week: In honor of Prince, share with us your all-time favorite purple makeup product (and your all-time favorite Prince song).
EauMG’s Answer: First off, I’m not taking this very well. It’s just so shocking. Like most people, I’m a mega Prince fan. I love all the Princes. So asking me about a song, that’s hard. I’m actually that group that likes really early Prince (like pre-Controversy) and the newer stuff, post-2000s. Of course, I love the mid-80’s to early 90’s stuff, but I felt he was best in touch with himself during those early and later years. I think right now “Art Official Age” is my favorite album. But, anyway. When I think of Prince makeup, I don’t think purple. If I think of pink eyeshadows, black eyeliner and lots of mascara. And maybe even a sheer peach lip balm. But, we’re talking about purple and I love purple. One of my favorite bold lipsticks is LaSplash Lip Couture in Criminal, this bold purple with a matte finish. For dark purple lips, I love NARS Velvet Matte in Train Bleu (the best badass shade for any complexion) and I like MAC Lipstick in Cyber. For pale purples, I like ColourPop Lippie Stix in Brills. And for blush, I love the ever so appropriately named ColourPop Rain. With purple eye makeup: Kiko Intense Colour Eye Pencil in 05 Metallic Violet, L’Oreal Infallalible Eyeshadow in Perpetual Purple and Wet n Wild Color Icon Collection in Petal Pusher.

Gouldylox is Currently Craving: I’m seriously craving a glistening, easy summer eye. Think a smudge of shimmer and a little messy mascara… I think the Platinum Tom Ford Cream Color shadow would be sheer perfection.
^Girl, yes, I’m totally feeling this too!
I really like the Dior purples (all of them) and my second favorite song of all time is Raspberry Beret.
Dior makes great purples. And blues when it comes to eyeshadow. One of the few eyeshadow palettes that I’ve ever emptied in my life was a Dior 5-Pan in all purple shades.
Raspberry Beret is such a great one.
I ended up really liking Milani #65 Matte Glam purple for the Prince tribute dance party I went to last night. Unlike some shades in that family it didn’t make my teeth look yellow, was flattering even with my pale skin, and stayed on . I’ve also never seen so much purple lipstick in my life. Seriously. (Nobody else had drawn on a purple tear, though.)
Oh, thank you for telling me this. I’m going to pick that shade up. I’ve seen it in store but you know, no testers. I always manage to talk myself out of buying it even though I like Milani lip formulas.
Hi Victoria. I just had to say that I’m with you on Art Official Age. That was the album that fired me up on Prince again. Such an uber talented musician, performer … Sad. Also I am going to try the Yves Rocher from your recommendation.
🙂
I don’t want to sound grim but I really hope that people that haven’t paid attention to Prince since the early 90’s have been motivated to listen to his new and newer stuff. I think they’re going to be surprised at how much more they’re going to fall for! I also have a feeling a lot of his “hidden” tracks will be released as well. He was prolific.
Hope you like it! I’ve been using their Lilac body products all of spring. I like YR’s sheery flirty florals.
