The Lipstick League – week of 2.20.17

Question of the Week: Quick! What were the last shampoo and conditioner purchases you made, and how are they working for you?

EauMG’s Answer: My last purchase was Matrix Oil Wonders Volume Rose Shampoo and Conditioner. It smells absolutely amazing and this is really the only reason I purchased it. It’s not really for my dry, course hair type but I can use it once a week as like a “clarifying” treatment. I wish I could get this aroma in something richer. I mean the formula is really nice and it’s nice to have some volume. It does smooth. But, my hair needs moisture. I do see myself repurchasing because I like having it in my rotation.

Nouveau Cheap – A tale of corporate acquisitions, blooming orange blossoms, and Fruit Loops. (Otherwise known as my review of the delightful, budget-friendly Couvent des Minimes Botanical Cologne of Love.)

EauMG – I’ve put together a list of refreshing perfumes that I think perfectly “match” Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year, Greenery.

Nouveau Cheap is Currently Craving: Cetaphil has a new fragrance-free, bi-phase Gentle Makeup Remover that I can’t stop thinking about. I’m loving that it contains aloe vera, cucumber extract, and green tea.

  1. I just purchased the matrix rose oil shampoo and conditioner and you are right! It does smell great so thanks for bringing it to my attention! It’s also currently on sale at Ulta so I was pretty happy about that.
I’ve really been in a rose mood lately since I just received my order from beautyhabit for a small bottle of parfum de Nicolai’s rose royale and a candle called Mexico 1531. It’s supposed to smell like fresh earth and damask rose but I think it smells more like rose, patchouli and vertiver- Not a bad thing!
As for cheap rose thrills I would like to recommend the sephora rose face wipes. Surprisingly very fragrant and not too expensive. I’ll use one then later on wonder what smells so good then think oh yeah, my face! I don’t really recommend the matching rose cleansing cream. Kinda just meh. Stick to the wipes!

    1. I have been looking for rose scented shampoos/conditioners for years. I was happy to find this one. And I guess now MoroccanOil has one too. I really love how the Matrix one smells.

Oh, thanks for the head’s up on the rose wipes. I need something like that for travel. I may as well get something that smells nice!

      Ohhhh, that candle sounds good.
