The Lipstick League – Week of 1.26.15

First things first. The Lipstick League will be participating in a post-a-day on Instagram in February. We’re inviting our readers to participate as well using #lipstickleague. There’s a different theme for different days. Honestly, I’m really bad about using Instagram (my page is here) and I know I’m not going to participate daily (no makeup, no thank you). I’m going to try, so don’t feel any pressure to participate in all 28 of these 🙂 Also, spoiler alert – we’re having a BPAL giveaway coming up soon 😉

Question of the Week: Are there any makeup looks you wish you could rock, but feel like you can’t?

EauMG’s Answer: I’ve always liked that look where people line their entire eyes with black eyeliner on the waterline. I can’t do this without looking like I have bloodshot mad-as-hell eyes. The older I get, I also feel like I can’t pull off eyeshadows in non-neutral colors. I don’t really wear greens, blues or pinks anymore. I feel they make me look silly. I’m sure I could use them but I can’t use them with a heavy hand like I used to do. What about you? What looks do you like but don’t like yourself in?

  1. I don’t know…I’ve never really felt I could pull off screaming eye colors. Never looked quite right with the suit and pumps. Let alone the kohl rimmed eyes. But even as an “old lady” I still like a little sheen to my shadow. Not glitter. As a contact lens wearer from way back glitter and contacts are a no no. But I wish I could wear a “European” matte make-up like French women do. Wow, so pulled together and elegant. I look like a 14 year old trying to wear mom’s make-up. Must be attitude or Americans really like to “glow”.
I do find as my color selection has limited itself I am able to spend more on quality. No more 6 bottles of foundation one Ellis Faas I can do. $90 a bottle-hell no, but still a tad spendy at $60.00. But realllllyyyyy nice.

    1. Arguably, I never could but I guess I was more confident in my ability too, lol. I wear contacts and I can’t do glitter or “flake” stuff, shimmers work but I can’t do anything potentially irritating.

I like that matte look too but it looks bad on me. I do like a really dewy look though.

Yes, that is something worth bringing up. Back in the day I had a lot of stuff, a lot of colors and a lot of multiples of products that I didn’t like. Now I do use more expensive foundation that I like and it’s all I have, same with concealers, etc. I imagine that my collection is only going to get smaller because I do know what I like/wear now. I’d so much rather have one good product instead of three mediocre ones.
