The Lipstick League – week of 11.9.15

Question of the Week: When you want to truly pamper yourself (as we all should do from time to time!), which products do you reach for?

EauMG’s Answer: This is a fun question and one that I like thinking about because well, I’m indulgent. So, here’s what I use. Wearing a favorite fragrance is the quickest and easiest way to pamper. I also like burning “fancy candles” while wearing a sheet mask and reading something I want to read. I typically like to do this after bathing using a fancy soap (like Hermès) or a shower gel (which doesn’t always have to be expensive. I like stuff like Caress to Frederic Malle). I like to follow up with a fancy body product like an oil (Maile Organics or Palmer’s), body cream (like the ones by Haus of Gloi) and sometimes dusting powder like Estee Lauder Youth Dew. I also like to take baths and one of my favorite products is LUSH Rose Jam Bubbleron. I also love the Youth Dew Bath Oil. When it comes to makeup, I like to use my Caron Powder Puff and Armani lipsticks. I mean, right now I’m drinking Guerlain Shalimar tea and burning an Aura candle while I’m slathered in French body oil while wearing silk pajamas. I’ve got this pampering thing down.

  1. I always burn candles(right now Nest Hearth), drink teas(multiple cups), and do face masks and find it very relaxing. I knew someone who had candles and never burned them unless company was over because she didn’t believe she deserved to burn them just for herself…sad. I drink all kinds of teas and tisanes, from extremely expensive rare green teas to grocery store staples and have never heard of Guerlain teas. From the description in the Shalimar one, “subtle blend of flowers and the sensual accents of wood and amber”, I can not imagine wood and amber in tea. I’ll try anything once and in the rare event I come across this tea, I’ll have to try it.

    1. I have friends like that too. They’ll never burn the candles because they are “special” but it’s like “YOU ARE SPECIAL! USE IT!”

I hope you get to try it!

  2. Very fun post! Now a Caron powder puff is really on my got-to-have list. In looking at their powder colors (on the Caron web site, in the transparent line), is there any way to figure out which color would be best?

    1. 🙂
Transparent has the best finish for drier skin types. The shades do lean a little more pink. I bought Translucide as it was a bit more warm. Transparente is as the name suggests. The Classics range is too much for my dry skin. I suggest looking at swatches online or even calling the NYC boutique. The sales team there is awesome and if you describe your skintone (undertones, pale to deep, etc), she should be able to help. Unfortunately the shade range is limited (like so many of these French brands).

It does smell great IMO. Very happy that I bought it and the puff.
