The Lipstick League – Week of 11/13/17

Question of the Week: If beauty products were like Thanksgiving dinner, what’s your gravy? (The product you use with/over EVERYTHING.)

EauMG’s Answer: Lol. I laugh because I’m not really into gravy at all…a rarity for a Southerner with Louisiana Creole roots (AKA a gravy obsessed family who take major pride in their sauce abilities). I will eat rice and gravy. And it wasn’t until adulthood that I started to appreciate white, brown and Cajun-style red-eye gravies. Anyway, what were we talking about? Gravy? Nah, products.

I love mists. I like to use them in my skincare routine between layering products. I also like to use them after applying foundation to get rid of a “cakey” appearance. I’ll also use them throughout the day, especially in the winter when the air is dry. I like Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist and Andalou 1000 Roses Floral Toner.

  1. OMG. I am hyper-intrigued with your mention of the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist and how you use it. Wearing make-up in recent years has become an exercise in horror for me; after foundation application…no matter how I have exfoliated or moisturized… it gets cakey and then flakey, and it’s just a mess. Definitely going to look into this. Wish I hadn’t literally, just 5 minutes ago, already pulled the trigger on a Sephora order!

    1. I can’t stand foundation that looks like foundation. Some formulas are better than others but sometimes, even a formula I love, will just look cakey for no explainable reason. I have found that spraying it with something that IS NOT a setting spray does the job. There are things cheaper than the Queen of Hungary Mist, like I put a $3 bottle of De la Cruz Glycerin & Rose Water in a spray bottle and it does an amazing job. I just think it’s about disrupting that layer some. Matte is not my friend.
