The Lipstick League – week of 10.19.15

Question of the Week: How do you maintain your brows? Tweeze, wax, thread, or do you go au naturel?

EauMG’s Answer: These days I do absolutely nothing. In an age of excessively groomed brows, there’s something really punk about stray, messy brows. This has been really liberating as well. I have been getting my brows waxed since I was like 10. I actually like seeing myself with messy brows. It makes me look at myself differently and realize it’s just not a big deal to have “imperfections”.

  1. Truth be told, I prefer a slightly imperfect brow to super precise Instagram-worthy brows. I finally grew mine out and I’m actually surprised they came back. Not as awesome as when I was a kid, but I’ll take what I can get. I have trichotillomania AND was a teen girl in the nineties so I’m happy they look normal now!

    1. I like imperfect. It’s occurred to me that it actually softens the face and oddly is more “approachable”. I’ve never been good with those “effortless” styles like throwing hair in a bun or pony and actually looking like I didn’t just exit a small house fire. BUT with messy brows, I can sort of get that “laidback”/not trying look.

I’m surprised mine did too. The 90’s wrecked my brows. And I waxed/tweezed for so long. I thought about trying one of the serums but I think I’ll be fine. Much more grew back than I thought would. It can happen!
