Tauer Cologne du Maghreb Natural Fragrance Review

Tauer Cologne du Maghreb

Cologne du Maghreb is an all-natural classic eau de cologne by Andy Tauer. This is Tauer’s project of recreating traditional eau de cologne but adding his own signature.

Cologne du Maghreb is an aromatic citrus. It’s like lemons and licorice. And then it wears as big ‘ole lemons. It’s bright and sunny. There’s a hint of spicy neroli and clove. And then it dries down to “woodsy aromatic”.

Overall, it’s a rather uncomplicated fragrance. It’s a lemon eau du cologne made from botanicals. Projection and longevity are below average, even for a cologne concentration. It’s also all-natural so that doesn’t really help with longevity either. I only get about an hour of wear in the warmer months.

Lili Damita

Notes listed include citrus, cistus, ambreine, cedarwood, java vetiver, bergamot, lemon, neroli, orange blossom, lavender, rosemary, rose absolute, rose essential oil and clary sage. Launched in 2010. PERFUMER – Andy Tauer

Give Cologne du Maghreb a try if you like natural perfumes or classic eau du colognes. Or if you like perfumes like 4711, Potter & Moore Lavender & Italian Lemon, L’Occitane Citrus Verbena Intense, Fragonard Citron and/or Guerlain Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat. Cologne du Maghreb is unisex.

The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $85 at Indie Scents. Samples are also available for purchase.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONLemon eau de cologne. This one is really short-lived so I see myself wearing something more like Balmain Monsieur Balmain if I want lemon.

  1. so this Tauer guy… *laugh* i’m so ashamed that in my all-natural zeal, i have not even tried anything by him.

but… as far as anyone i know (i know a few) he’s apparently a genius. so, i’m probably some kind of masochist for not having tea with a fume of his.

colognes and all natural… oy. i won’t even try to defend anything here. there are basically a therapeutic spritz for cool and disinfect. i think if this lasts an hour, he’s still a genius.

oooo… Fleurs de Cedrat- those classic eaux from Guerlain are actually the REASON i am trying to experience more mixed media perfumes. i LOVE them (esp. Guerlain Eau de Guerlain.)

    1. I wrote EauMG for like 4 years before trying a Tauer. IMO they are really hit or miss. Lonestar Memories is one that I think anyone into to niche should try.

1 hour is being generous since I think my skin “runs cool” but there is a woodsy base thing going on that lingers on the skin. I think I can safely say that it lasts 10-60 minutes depending on the person and weather.

Those Guerlain Eaux are really good. Plus, I like the bee bottles 🙂
