YOSH U4EAHH! (euphoria) is the self-described “carefree” perfume in the collection. I knew I’d struggle with this one. It’s “carefree” and the notes are fruity. I tend to feel uncomfortable wearing stuff like this.  I’m just not carefree enough. I’m not cute enough.

U4EAHH! is fruity with pears and melons. It starts to smell like cucumbers and watermelon Jolly Ranchers. Some of the “juiciness” remains and blooms into a dewy, cool floral with an ozonic musk. The heart reminds me of freshly sliced sour Granny Smith apples… Continue reading | 10 Comments

I’ve been sampling the heck out of white floral perfumes lately. Penhaligon’s Ellenisia,  described by the brand as “an extravagant floral”, is one of these that I’ve tried.

Ellenisia opens with citrus. And then it’s a soapy version of gardenia, peach, peony and tuberose. It’s a “fresh” floral that is so feminine, so pure, that it seems to be in some church-lady Chanel Les Exclusifs Gardenia drag. Ellenisia loses some of that soapiness and gets more voluptuous. More of the 1960’s: Get The Look of Yvette Mimieux

I’m giving a “pale” look for summer. It’s time to take a break from bronzers and gold shimmer.

FACE: To get this look apply a foundation such as Clinique Even Better Makeup (this is a foundation that lightens dark spots!). Apply concealer where needed. I like the creaminess of Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer. Take a fluffy powder brush and apply a pressed powder such as L’Oreal True Match Powder. Cheeks barely have any color.
