I wish I had an uncle name Yogini.
Harvey Prince Yogini is a fragrance that is meant to “soothe the soul” and from the notes listed I expected a watery, sheer floral. Instead Yogini is a thick floral amber that is almost gourmand with notes of vanilla, cardamom and spice.
When I first spray Yogini, I get a dewy rose, jasmine and lily over warm amber and cedar incense. There’s something toasted in Yogini that reminds me of sugar cookies. In the heart the Asiatic lily and ylang-ylang… Continue reading | 2 Comments
I can talk about most scents and I can describe most scents but NEST Fragrances Orchid Rain for Jason Wu has been a difficult one for me. All I want to say is that it’s perfect. The end.

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume
I admit that I ignored Sensuous Nude when it was launched. I was sick of the Estee Lauder Sensuous flankers and honestly, I thought I had already tried this one. And the name seemed very silly to me. Sensuous Nude? I’d rather sniff Awkward Nude or Distasteful Nude. What about Sensuous Nude Descending Down a Staircase? I’m so happy that I finally wore Sensuous Nude on skin. It’s a nice casual mainstream fragrance that I enjoy wearing.

The original feminine Boucheron was lovely before it was reformulated. And I didn’t mind Trouble. I find it odd that B de Boucheron is so unpopular but at the same time it is something that I’d never wear.
B opens as zesty pink peppercorns with florals peeking through. Strangely, you notice the pink peppercorns but… Continue reading | 1 Comment
When the weather gets cold, I often find comfort in incense and amber fragrances. I thought I was fine with my current collection of thick resinous, spicy amber scents and then I tried Ormonde Jayne Tolu.
Tolu is refined. Tolu is a modern sweet resinous scent. It doesn’t attempt to recreate 19th century spice routes. If Tolu reminds me of anything “old”, it only reminds me of late 1950’s Vogue fashion photography where the graceful, long-necked model is draped in taffeta and honey-hued furs. Tolu is… Continue reading | 14 Comments
