I’ve been reviewing a new brand, Precious Liquid. This is a new perfume brand that offers three perfume collections (Exquisite, Pure and Texture¹) that contain three perfumes each. These are meant to wear alone or even to layer using the brand’s 3D Layering.
Precious Liquid markets all of their perfumes as unisex (because all perfumes are unisex). But, I’d say that the Texture Collection is more “traditionally masculine”.
Notes listed include lime, blue agave, salted driftwoods, bay oil and sage.
Blue Agave is… Continue reading
Atelier Cologne Clémentine California is perfume inspired by sunny Los Angeles. Los Angeles is one of those places that I love when I’m not there. I actually spend a lot of time thinking about moving there, fantasizing about year-round perfect weather, Art Deco architecture and endless sunshine. But, as soon as I’m there, I want to leave. I can’t really explain this phenomenon. I guess I love the idea of Los Angeles more than actually being there? I truly have a love/hate relationship with one of the… Continue reading | 4 Comments
It’s so strange to me which “Destination Inspirations” keep repeatedly showing up in perfumery. If you made maps based solely on perfume inspirations it’d only consist of the Mediterranean, Hawaii and some vague Spice Route that encompasses whatever Europeans think isn’t European. I’m not really complaining about these inspirations, they’re beautiful places and I enjoy many perfumes with these inspirations. I’m just saying there are so many beautiful places in this world that are underrepresented in the world of perfumery (or at least perfume marketing)… Continue reading | 4 Comments
Phlur is a new brand of perfumes with affordable (under $100) perfumes marketed like it’s a tech startup. I don’t want to repeat myself, but if you are curious about my thoughts on the marketing, you can see my review of Moab, a delicious amber. So far, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this brand and couldn’t wait to try more.
Hepcat opens like a “boozy vetiver”. It’s like vetiver root submerged into something fruity, almost like brandy. It smells like tobacco and hay… Continue reading
Years ago, April Aromatics won me over with the decadent”glamour hippie” spicy patchouli, Bohemian Musk. I adore the the brands heady florals (like Tempted Muse), but I’m always drawn to what Tanja does with earthy notes. Erdenstern is like a cousin of my first April Aromatics love, Bohemian Musk. This is a botanical musk with a leafy bitterness over the brand’s signature “sophisticated, balsamic sweetness”.
Erdenstern opens as a dusty, dark chocolate cocoa powder and musk. It’s warm, earthy and… Continue reading | 2 Comments
