Bruno Fazzolari Ummagumma Perfume Review

Bruno Fazzolari Ummagumma

Ummagumma is a new perfume by indie perfumer Bruno Fazzolari. It’s a perfume inspired by Pink Floyd, 1969, counterculture…you get the idea. Before even sniffing it, I wanted it to be something a little rough around the edges, earthy and well, hippie-ish. After wearing a few times, I can tell you, it is all of these things.

At first glance/sniff, I thought Ummagumma was an amber. But, it’s really an amber and everything else. It opens with a cool, metallic saffron and dusty cocoa powder. What I… Continue reading

MAC Ruby Woo & Velvet Teddy Perfume Reviews

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing (Two) Popular Perfumes

MAC Cosmetics launched Shadescents, a line of perfumes to correspond with some of their best-selling, cult status lipstick shades. I was all about this concept as it combined both of my vices – perfume and lipstick.

I’m not on MAC’s PR list and it really didn’t appear they reached out to anyone that talks solely about perfume, so I had to wait for these to come into stores. It was a wreck. I went to two stores in NYC and… Continue reading | 8 Comments

Elizabeth & James Nirvana Amethyst & French Grey Perfume Reviews

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing  Popular Perfumes

For a mainstream, designer line, Elizabeth & James has some really solid scents. I love Nirvana Rose and Nirvana Bourbon is a really great vanilla perfume. I guess that says really all you need to know about how I feel about these:

Vilhelm Smoke Show & The Oud Affair Perfume Reviews

Today I’ll review two of the oud-y perfumes from niche brand Vilhelm.

Vilhelm Smoke Show

SMOKE SHOW

Notes listed include pink pepper, saffron, rose, leather, vetiver, cedar and oud. Launched in 2015. PERFUMER – Jerome Epinette

Firstly, let me display my dorkiness by stating that I can’t even read the name “Smoke Show” without it being Marilyn Manson’s voice in “The Dope Show”¹. So, you should do that too because it’s more fun that way.

The opening of Smoke Show is fruity. It reminds me of red… Continue reading | 2 Comments

David Jourquin Cuir Altesse Perfume Review

David Jourquin Cuir Altesse

David Jourquin is a niche, French line of perfumes that specializes in leather fragrances. Cuir Altesee is a self-described “evening fragrance”. It’s actually the only perfume (so far) that I’ve tried from the line.

Cuir Altesee has an opening that is dense but luminescent. It’s like peaches, orange, spices and tons of patchouli. It’s like cinnamon and bourbon. It’s bitter, bold and somehow bright. To my surprise, there is a rich “cigar accord” in Cuir Altesee. I say I’m surprised because it’s not listed in the… Continue reading | 4 Comments
