Aether Arts Strawberry Sling & Iris Laughs Perfume Reviews

I’m reviewing two fruity fragrances from indie brand Aether Arts.

Aether Arts Strawberry Sling

STRAWBERRY SLING

We don’t usually see indie or niche brands tackle strawberry in perfume. The opening of Strawberry Sling is like sipping limoncello in an herb garden. It’s like a sweet, syrupy lemon and mint. It’s also ozonic, like a breeze. Strawberry Sling becomes even more tangy with an addition of juicy strawberries accompanying the tart lemon zest. What I like about Strawberry Sling is that it has greenness from herbs that keep it fresh… Continue reading

Yves Saint Laurent YSL Mon Paris Perfume Review

YSL Mon Paris

Mainstream Monday: Sniffing a Popular Perfume

A couple New Year’s Days ago, I was washing my hands after making enough tamales to feed a multi-generational familial unit. I glanced into the mirror and saw something light at my center part. Thinking it was masa, I went to wipe it off. It didn’t budge. Upon further inspection, I was mortified. There they were. Gray hairs. It was like they popped up overnight to ring in the new year. I didn’t feel old. WHY WAS MY BODY DOING THIS TO ME?

Yes, I know… Continue reading | 2 Comments

Phaedon Pluie de Soleil Perfume Review

Phaedon Pluie de Soleil

I mentioned in my review of the Arielle Shoshana EDP (a passion fruit fragrance), that I rarely talk about fruity perfumes unless they’re figs. Fruity scents aren’t a genre that I’ve really explored…and I’m trying to change that. I’ve been trying niche fruity fragrance. When I ask for recommendations, Phaedon Pluie de Soleil is one that keeps getting mentions.

Pluie de Soleil opens with strawberry jam. And pineapples. And lemon peel that’s like rays of sunshine. It’s a really fruity fragrance. The fruits aren’t fruit… Continue reading

4160 Tuesdays Goddess of Love & Perfume EDP Perfume Review

4160 Tuesdays Goddess of Love

I have no idea what has happened to me this winter. But, something has happened. Last week, I confessed that I’ve enjoyed wearing a sheer, wispy black currant perfume, Viktoria Minay Hedonist Cassis. And today I’m confessing my love for another fruity-floral perfume, 4160 Tuesdays Goddess of Love & Perfume. Now, this one is very different than the Viktoria Minya one. Goddess of Love is a dense, jammy fruity-floral. There’s nothing sheer about it. The surprise for me, is what are the… Continue reading | 6 Comments

Escada Turquoise Summer EDT Perfume Review

Escada Summer Turquoise Review

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular (Limited Edition) Perfume

When it comes to fragrance, Escada excels at turning Jell-O shots into perfume. This limited edition summer perfume for 2015, Turquoise Summer, is no exception. Escada is at it again!

Turquoise Summer opens with strawberry Jell-O powder dissolving into hot water. And then BAM it’s blue raspberry Jell-O and pineapple flavored vodka. It wears as artificial flavoring berries that eventually dries down to a generic, modern warm musk. Yep, this is a limited edition Escada. This is… Continue reading | 8 Comments
