Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB Cream SPF 40 Review

Hydroxatone BB Cream

I’ve been very skeptical about this entire “BB Cream” thing. I viewed it as a glorified tinted moisturizer…and tinted moisturizer is just some pigment mixed into your moisturizer. BB Creams claim to also be a concealer and sometimes they claim to be a makeup base. One thing I’ve learned about BB Creams is that they claim to do it all. This makes a skeptical person like myself very suspicious.

We’ll I’ve finally warmed up to them as I like the idea of a multi-purpose product and… Continue reading | 3 Comments

Sunday Riley Cashmere SPF 30 Sunscreen Review

Sunday Riley Cashmere SPF 30 sunscreen

Sunday Riley Cashmere SPF 30 is a mineral sunscreen for the face. My skin does best with mineral sunscreens and the active ingredient in this one is titanium dioxide which protects from UVB and UVA rays. The sunscreen has “cashmere protein”, wheatgrass, stoneroot, rice grass, squalene, ellagic acid, and NV-5 Ageless Complex (a complex of 5 Native American botanicals). Oh, the skincare industry…it keeps me up to date on trés chic botanicals.

First impressions: The sunscreen is very lightweight and it’s white… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Saving Face – Review of Facial Sunscreen

Facial Sunscreens

Now that I’m using AHAs during my night time routine, I’m crazy about daily SPF. This isn’t really new for me. I’ve been crazy about SPF for 15 years. I now realize that I have no choice and can’t live without them. I’ve tried so many and really, I don’t love too many of them. Maybe my expectations are too high? Here’s my skin: My skin is normal and gets more dry in the winter and oilier in the summer. And I’m using stuff that makes… Continue reading | 6 Comments

Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer Review

Wow. This is one hyped up product. And because of the hype, I have expectations. And I’m a super cynical skincare user. I don’t expect for products to actually work but I don’t expect for them, excuse me, to be ballsy enough to make such “serious” claims. Clinique went ballsy with their claims for Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer. They claim that this moisturizer, formulated for all skin types that desire an even skin tone, will “instantly brighten and clarify”. Instantly?… Continue reading | 5 Comments

Paula Begoun’s 10 Ways to Transform Your Skin

1929 skincare ad

I’m a fan of Paula Begoun, The Cosmetics Cop. I’ve been reading “Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me” for years. I haven’t always taken her advice and I don’t always agree with her makeup/product reviews, but I really appreciate her research and opinion. I admit that I get caught up in new launches and frilly, smelly “wonder” creams. But, now that I have had another birthday pass and I’m noticing more discolorations, I’m determined to get serious about my… Continue reading | 10 Comments
