Opus Oils Spank Natural Perfume Review

Hedy Lamarr

Opus Oils is an indie perfume brand located in Hollywood. If you dig through my archives, you’ll see that I have reviewed quite a few things from the brand. Spank is a perfume in the Fetish Collection. The brand works in mixed media compositions but does offer all-natural compositions as well. Spank is one of the all-natural perfumes.

Spank is animalic. Should that be any surprise with a name like “spank”?! Spank is a natural leather perfume. I admit at first, it’s odd. It’s camphoric/green but sweet… Continue reading

Mona di Orio Myrrh Casati EDP Perfume Review

Mona di Orio Myrrh Casati

I sat on a striped sofa fidgeting with tassels that embellish rose printed silk pillows like I’ve done before. This time not because I was deflecting topics, but because of awkward silences. My eyes made contact with the big eyes in the painting of my aunt as a toddler. Phlur Hepcat EDP Perfume Review

Phlur Hepcat review

Phlur is a new brand of perfumes with affordable (under $100) perfumes marketed like it’s a tech startup. I don’t want to repeat myself, but if you are curious about my thoughts on the marketing, you can see my review of Moab, a delicious amber. So far, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this brand and couldn’t wait to try more.

Hepcat opens like a “boozy vetiver”. It’s like vetiver root submerged into something fruity, almost like brandy. It smells like tobacco and hay… Continue reading

Thorn & Bloom Stranger in the Cherry Grove EDP Natural Perfume Review

Thorn & Bloom Stranger in the Cherry Grove

Don’t be tricked by the “cherry” in this perfumer’s name. Thorn & Bloom Stranger in the Cherry Grove isn’t a fruity perfume. This is a botanical perfume that is like charred woods and smoke.

Perhaps it was a romantic rendezvous lit by firewood, a bonfire-side party in your home town when your visiting from college or maybe holidays spent at a loved one’s home, there’s something about smoky fragrances that people find nostalgic. It appears like many of us have pleasant memories… Continue reading

Blackbird Zola Jesus Taiga EDP Perfume Review

Blackbird TaigaLast year I started taking weaving classes. During studio time, one of the students started a conversation with me. After the usual small talk, I reveled that I had moved here from Seattle. And with that confession, I saw a spark was lit in her eyes. She went on and on about what a great place it is. She went on to talk about what creative culture it has. I’d keep nodding because it appeared she really, really needed to tell someone about Seattle, as if it was some hidden gem… Continue reading | 9 Comments
