More 1960’s Fashion: Get the Look of Daniela Bianchi

1960's actress Daniela Bianchi

This is such a 60’s Italian cinema look to me: the bronzer, dark eye makeup, and the dramatic hat. There’s some modern appeal to this look. All of the 2000s has been about smoky eyes and pale lips. Here’s what I did to get a similiar look to Daniela’s.

EYES: Because this look has heavy eye makeup, I’m starting with the eyes first. I filled in brows with the waxy, e.l.f. Eyebrow Lifter & Filler Pencil in Ash. This pencil… Continue reading | 5 Comments

Dior Jazz Age Fall 2009 Color Collection

Dior’s fall 2009 makeup collection is inspired by the 1920’s. For the past few years this era has been very popular in the makeup color collection world. Since I’m into most things vintage, I’m not going to complain. However, I don’t think of this collection as very 20’s but more of a 2009 take of a a jazz club in the late 40’s/early 50’s. The look is OTT with bold smoky eyes paired with boldly colored lips.

EYES: There is a Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Night Butterfly. This… Continue reading

Makeup For The Tudors? Smashbox Reign 2009 Fall Color Collection

I love this collection for the nerd factor alone. It is inspired the English Tudors, “an imperial court mired in salacious scandal and royal indulgence“. Hopefully this collection will make somebody somewhere learn a thing or 2 about history or at least make it cool to be nerdy, which it is. The collection contains the following limited edition items, many in special packaging.

FACE: There is a Fusion Blush. This cheek color has a matte and a shimmery shade packaged together. The shade is Regal which is a… Continue reading | 1 Comment

Olive You: My Favorite Olive Eyeshadows

My eye.
My eye.

I have blue eyes and khaki or olive eye makeup really doesn’t make them stand out but I do love the look because it works with my complexion and dyed red hair. I love olive eyeshadows are dark skintones and ladies with brown or hazel eyes. If you have a bit of violet in your eyes it will make them pop. Plus, khakis and olives look great on redheads including the au naturale redheads that I am so jealous of. It is stunning and… Continue reading

L’Oreal HIP Metallic Eye Shadow Duo in Gilded: Solid Gold

Weekly Cheap Secret: This is the first L’Oreal HIP product that I have purchased. I’ve been drawn to it because most drugstore items that claim to have tons of pigment don’t have it. Plus, the ads for this line are a bit cheezy and I always think the models would look better without the makeup. I love loud colors and tons of pigment but something about the application in the ads rubs me the wrong way. It is trying too hard and comes across and crude and brash. Anyways, I stumbled… Continue reading
