OK, I get it. You’re probably sick of hearing about oud perfumes. But, hear me out. Amouroud is a line of perfumes that may have “oud” in its title, but it uses oud as a seasoning instead of a main dish. Today I’m doing a 2-for-1 review because the note lists of these two *sound* similar but the perfumes themselves are not.¹
Notes listed include include apricot, saffron, pink pepper, jasmine, rose, oud, leather, moss, vanilla and vetiver. Launched in 2016.

Today I’ll review two of the oud-y perfumes from niche brand Vilhelm.
Notes listed include pink pepper, saffron, rose, leather, vetiver, cedar and oud. Launched in 2015. PERFUMER – Jerome Epinette

The heart introduces a jammy rose (like roses, honey… Continue reading
Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume
Today I’m going to review a fragrance who’s packaging has probably put more people in detention than anything else: Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb. It seems like every six months there is a story that hits the news regarding someone held by TSA for suspicious goods only to find out it’s a bottle of Spicebomb¹.
I hate the bottle. And I’m not really the demographic for Spicebomb so I’ve never tried it. However, it gets brought up a lot… Continue reading | 7 Comments
ROSE WEEK 2017 – An Oriental Rose
It’s Rose Week on EauMG! This is the annual celebration of rose-centric perfumes! This week I’m reviewing 6 fragrances that display a different aspect of rose perfumes.
I don’t mean to sound smarmy, I’ve decided to give perfumes launched post-2009 with “oud” in their title a chance. OK, I agree; That sounds smarmy. Like many people that have followed niche perfumery throughout the years, I suffer from oud fatigue. This has nothing to do with the note or the… Continue reading | 2 Comments
