Illuminum Taif Rose Haute Perfume Review

Illuminum Taif Rose EDP

Taif Rose is in Illuminum’s Haute Perfume line. This is the “high-end branch” of the line that is more directed to luxury customers and more “serious” sniffers. It’s not available in the U.S. at this moment but I imagine that it will be someday. Taif Rose is named after Ta’if, a city in Saudi Arabia known for their roses. And if you’ve been in the perfume game long enough, you’ll notice there are a few perfumes named after this region.

Penhaligon’s Elisabethan Rose EDT Fragrance Review

Penhaligon's Elisabethan Rose

Rose Week 2012

I love rose because rose has many personalities. A rose can be so many things. Because of these multiple personalities, you never know what to expect with a rose soliflore.

Penhaligon’s Elisabethan Rose opens up as a citrusy and sharp rose. It’s most definitely rose geranium. Penhaligon’s LP No. 9 for Ladies EDT Fragrance Review

Penhaligons Love Potion No. 9 Femme Perfume

Penhaligon’s LP No. 9 for Ladies is a lively floral fragrance based on a lively little song that I’m sure you’re singing in your head right now.

LP No. 9 (for the ladies…) is a florist floral. It reminds me of a bouquet of freshly purchased florals. There’s a hint of lemon and lots of red rose, geranium, and a few carnations thrown in. It’s such a realistic bouquet that I swear that I smell “floral preservative”! Love Potion No… Continue reading | 6 Comments

Penhaligons Lily of the Valley EDT Perfume Review

Penhaligons Lily of the Valley perfume review

Oh, it’s spring. It really doesn’t feel like it here in the Pacific Northwest. Things are budding and blossoming but the weather is rainy and reminds me of fall. I’m still wearing the same clothes that I started wearing in October. Ugh. The weather is messing with my fragrance choices. I’m wearing more rose-incense perfumes when I know that I should be wearing happy spring perfumes like Penhaligons Lily of the Valley.

Penhaligon’s Lily of the Valley is a delicate spring… Continue reading | 8 Comments

Annick Goutal Quel Amour! EDP Perfume Review

Annick Goutal Quel Amour EDP Perfume Review

Rose Week: Feb. 7th-11th

I’m really surprised that I like Quel Amour, the EDP, a bubbly fruity-floral, but I do. It’s something that I have to be in the mood for, but I like it. It is really feminine, like a champagne cocktail. It’s pink frilly panties. It reminds me a bit of Jayne Mansfield’s ridiculous home, everything covered in shag carpet, everything pink, and heart shaped objects. It’s that girly.
