Most of the time when I think of 1980’s makeup, I cringe. I think about terrible contouring and frosty finishes and dry, lifeless skin. But, it seems that most magazine covers in the 80’s had great makeup like this 1981 issue of Mademoiselle magazine featuring model Carol Alt (who is still unbelievably gorgeous). I can never tell an “era” of a Dalida photo since she wore her makeup the same for 30 years. And she looked amazing for over 30 years, so, I’m guessing this is a late 60’s, maybe early 70’s photograph of the singer, Dalida. Here’s my take on this look:
I’m guessing that this is a 70’s look but it could easily be a late 60’s Casino Royale era look. Whatever the decade, I like this look. It’s a retro smoky eye that works for all complexions. Here’s what I did to get a Bond Girl-esque Miss Bouchet inspired look.

I’ve been in a 60’s fashion mood lately and when I came across this pic of Barbra Streisand, I was inspired…again. This makeup looks amazing on warm skin tones. Tina is so young here! She has to be under 20 in this picture. She grew up fast, getting married at 17. Anyways, I like this look. It’s seem to be what people are going for these days.
