Hiram Green Slowdive Natural Perfume Review

Hiram Green Slowdive

Ever since I fell in love with Moon Bloom by Hiram Green back in 2013, I knew this new brand wouldn’t disappoint. Five years later and I still love Moon Bloom, a luxurious tuberose soliflore. I’ve also loved a few more from the brand (like the waxy orange blossom, Dilettante). With the newest launch, Slowdive, I’m even more impressed with the brand than I was before!

When I first sprayed Slowdive, I gasped and said, “ORANGE BLOSSOM HONEY”. It is a… Continue reading | 2 Comments

Acqua di Parma Colonia Mirra Perfume Review

Aqua di Parma Mirra

Myrrh is one of those notes that I adore but it’s not an easy note to wear. Myrrh can be very acrid and bitter. Sometimes it’s cold, like in Serge Lutens La Myrrhe (one of my favorite perfumes). Other times it’s like waxy black licorice. And sometimes you get a whiff of myrrh that smells like the exhaust of a semi-truck. Of course, myrrh will also remind some people of church/mass.

Acqua di Parma launched Colonia Mirra, which is basically a “soliflore”/single note interpretation of this epic… Continue reading | 2 Comments

Precious Liquid Exquisite Collection Reviews

Precious Liquid Exquisite Collection

Last week I reviewed the Pure Collection by Precious Liquid¹. This is a new perfume brand that offers three perfume collections (Exquisite, Pure and Texture) that contain three perfumes each. These are meant to wear alone or even to layer using the brand’s 3D Layering.

Roses

Notes listed include rose centifolia, Australian sandalwood, amber, Bulgarian rose, cassis berry and clean musks.

Roses is a red, berry-hued rose soliflore. The opening has some bright aldehydes and green leaves with the rose. It reminds me of lush, velvety burgundy rose petals… Continue reading | 8 Comments

Mona di Orio Myrrh Casati EDP Perfume Review

Mona di Orio Myrrh Casati

I sat on a striped sofa fidgeting with tassels that embellish rose printed silk pillows like I’ve done before. This time not because I was deflecting topics, but because of awkward silences. My eyes made contact with the big eyes in the painting of my aunt as a toddler. I glanced down at the dogwood painted glass hurricane lamp that my grandmother absolutely despised, a gift from her mother-in-law. But, she kept it because it survived the dangers of four rowdy children (all born within a four… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Ramon Bejar Sanctum EDP Perfume Review

Ramon Bejar Sanctum

I’ve tried a lot of perfumes so I don’t mind giving recomendations. I actually love giving perfume recomendations because it makes my weird obsession appear useful. One popular request is “Can you recommend a perfume that smells like church incense?” I always find this entertaining because my interaction with “church incense” is extremely limited. I’ve been to church twice in my life. Granted, both times were at an Eastern Orthodox church and there was incense but I don’t remember too much other than smoke and chanting (I… Continue reading
