Have you ever purchased a perfume just for its packaging?
I hate to admit this, but I have. These days I rarely buy full-size bottles. But, there was a time I’d buy a bottle of perfume just because I liked the bottle. Those days are long gone but here’s what I remember buying just for the bottle:

My favorite home fragrance line has finally done it; they’ve finally made a fine personal fragrance line. The Fine Fragrance line consists of 3 perfumes that come in a 3.4 oz spray, rollerball (about .3 oz) and body cream.
The Fine Fragrance line is inspired by the artwork of 18th century artist Mary Delany and her “Paper Mosaiks”, botanical artworks meticulously created with varying shades and textures of paper. The noses behind the scents are Christophe Laudamiel (Estee Lauder Youth Dew Amber Nude, Michael Kors Island) and Jerome Epinette (Byredo Pulp, Fresh Cannabis Rose). I dislike doing best/worst lists because fragrance is subjective AND I dislike doing them because I haven’t tried all of the new launches of 2011. Who has? If you keep up with mainstream, luxury, indie, and naturals, you know that a new perfume is launched every second…only a slight exaggeration. A perfume’s life expectancy is even more brief than a caveman’s. Most perfumes don’t live long enough to blow out five candles on their pink frosted birthday cake. To see a perfume reach it’s 40th anniversary is very rare. And to see a perfume reach its 40th and still be loved is even more aberrant. I’ve always adored Clinique Aromatics Elixir. Sometimes I think my nose is broken because I don’t think Alien is as strong as other people seem to think it is. I do think it is obnoxious but not in an “evacuate the room” way.
