EauPEN Thread – Pretty Bottles

Jean Paul Gaultier Fragile

Have you ever purchased a perfume just for its packaging?
I hate to admit this, but I have. These days I rarely buy full-size bottles. But, there was a time I’d buy a bottle of perfume just because I liked the bottle. Those days are long gone but here’s what I remember buying just for the bottle:

Van Cleef & Arpels Féerie – I don’t even like faeries but for some reason I wanted this bottle…also the fact that it lists violets as a note… Continue reading | 16 Comments

NEST Fine Fragrances & A Review

My favorite home fragrance line has finally done it; they’ve finally made a fine personal fragrance line. The Fine Fragrance line consists of 3 perfumes that come in a 3.4 oz spray, rollerball (about .3 oz) and body cream.

The Fine Fragrance line is inspired by the artwork of 18th century artist Mary Delany and her “Paper Mosaiks”, botanical artworks meticulously created with varying shades and textures of paper. Best of 2011 – Perfume Blogging Event

Best Perfumes of 2011

I dislike doing best/worst lists because fragrance is subjective AND I dislike doing them because I haven’t tried all of the new launches of 2011. Who has? If you keep up with mainstream, luxury, indie, and naturals, you know that a new perfume is launched every second…only a slight exaggeration. Clinique Aromatics Elixir Perfumer’s Reserve Perfume

Clinique Aromatics Elixir Perfumer's Reserve

A perfume’s life expectancy is even more brief than a caveman’s. Most perfumes don’t live long enough to blow out five candles on their pink frosted birthday cake. To see a perfume reach it’s 40th anniversary is very rare. And to see a perfume reach its 40th and still be loved is even more aberrant. I’ve always adored Clinique Aromatics Elixir. I have a thing for chypres. And Aromatics Elixir is my “casual” chypre. It’s often a scent that I wear in the fall… Continue reading | 13 Comments

Thierry Mugler Alien EDP Perfume Review

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume

Sometimes I think my nose is broken because I don’t think Alien is as strong as other people seem to think it is. I do think it is obnoxious but not in an “evacuate the room” way. In fact, I feel that I must be ansomic to half of this juice because I can’t smell it after an hour of wear. This is my Alien warning.

I avoided Alien for a few years. Growing up on… Continue reading | 12 Comments
