Malabah is a modern interpretation of the Spice Route. I find it to be like those boring historical dramas where all the actors and actresses have really modern hair and makeup. You can’t really figure out why it is period piece other than some “thy”s and “thither”s are thrown in sometimes.
Malabah opens as a cup of hot green tea with ginger with a squeeze of lemon. And there’s cilantro aldehydes. Unfortunately, the scent is really vapid on me. It’s super sheer and something in the top… Continue reading | 6 Comments
When I first sniffed Penhaligon’s Quercus, I had flashbacks to the mid-90’s. This stuff smells really familiar.

Originally created in 1927, Penhaligon’s Eau de Cologne has been relaunched in the Anthology Collection. Eau de Cologne should get an award for the most fleeting fragrance on the planet. I swear that its life span is 5 minutes on my skin. Even for an eau de cologne, I find this remarkable.
I find Eau de Cologne very refreshing. It opens as freshly squeezed lemons and oranges. It’s very effervescent and optimistic. I get some of that heady neroli that reminds me of little petals… Continue reading | 2 Comments

Dita von Teese launches her perfume in London. She claims that she stopped wearing her “mysterious and unknown to everyone” perfume after her boyfriend (of 2 weeks!) said she smells like his mom. This irritates me for many reasons but mainly because the “mysterious and unknown to everyone” perfume was either Quelques Fleurs or something by Caron or Fracas
