Caron L’Accord Code 119 Parfum Extrait Review

Caron L'Accord 119 parfum

I realize that I haven’t been very “warm” to the new Carons. But, here’s my deal with Caron – my expectations are high. It’s difficult for me to smell something that smells like rose and lychee and think it warrants the name of the exquisite house of Caron. I almost quit trying any of the new launches from Caron, but then I tried Accord 119 Parfum and my faith has been restored.

Accord 119 opens as a banana ylang-ylang custard with a drizzling of blackberry syrup. Accord… Continue reading | 2 Comments

HEELEY Bubblegum Chic Parfum Extrait Perfume Review

Heeley Bubblegum Chic

Bubblegum niche. This doesn’t bother me. I love kitsch and I think there should be more humour in the perfume world. Bubblegum Chic has the components of a traditional, feminine white floral with the addition of clean musks and fruits that all of the kids are into these days. Right?

Bubblegum Chic is a sweeter white floral. It opens with indolic jasmine and cooling tuberose with peaches. The jasmine in this is intense. The tuberose is intense. But, that’s what I expected. Even though I… Continue reading | 7 Comments

Aftelier Sepia Parfum & EDP Perfume Review

You can follow the develop of Sepia through the letters of Mandy Aftel and Laurie Erickson of Sonoma Scent Studio on Nathan Branch’s blog. Sepia is inspired by ghost towns. I like that.

Aftelier Sepia EDP

EDP Review

Sepia opens as a “pink” citrus melody. The entire scent hits me as a salmon shade. It’s not frou-frou. I  get a raunchy barnyard oud with indoles working its way through. There’s a bitterness from sulfuric grapefruit peel that blends with bitter, green florals. When the… Continue reading | 5 Comments

JoAnne Bassett Ecstasy Natural Parfum Review

JoAnne Bassett Ecstasy

Ecstasy is a new perfume in the JoAnne Bassett More Life Collection. Ecstasy to me is the utmost “pampering” fragrance. Wearing it is like having a fan club. I’m surrounded by gourmet chocolates, bouquet of roses and the sweetest smelling perfumes.

Ecstasy reminds me of gourmet truffles. In the opening I get chocolates with various fluffy fillings of orange, mint, candied ginger and lavender. You can’t just choose one…With time I get a creamy floral, heavy on the rose, with lush aromatics. The dry down… Continue reading | 3 Comments

Caron Narcisse Blanc Parfum Extrait Review

Caron Narcisse Blanc parfum

Perfumer, Ernest Daltroff created the yin and yang of narcissus perfumes in the early 20th century. Narcisse Noir was created in 1911. Eleven years later the world was ready for Narcisse Blanc.

Narcisse Blanc opens with a peppery citrus and a neroli with an oily viscosity. It’s odd because I expect for most neroli scents to be light, airy and sheer like an eau de cologne. Narcisse Blanc is neroli with an unpredictable thickness. Most neroli scents relate to air. Narcisse Blanc relates to air and earth. The… Continue reading | 5 Comments
