ROSE WEEK 2018 – A Rose-Oud
It’s Rose Week on EauMG! This is the annual celebration of rose-centric perfumes! This week I’m reviewing 5 fragrances that display a different aspect of rose perfumes.
How could I get through Rose Week without a rose-oud? The answer – I couldn’t. Atelier des Ors Rose Omeyyade is one of those darker, deeper, jammy roses balanced by woods.
The first part of the wear of Rose Omeyyade is a spicy, boozy rose. It opens with a raspberry jam with rose petals dusted in fruity, pink pepper… Continue reading
It seemed like for a few years in niche perfume, there really was an “oud du jour”. Everyone was launching an oud perfume, or at least a perfume with the word “oud” in its title. I don’t know if Amouroud is joking about this or if “Oud du Jour” is a fun thing to say (because it is).

Today I’ll review two of the oud-y perfumes from niche brand Vilhelm.
Notes listed include pink pepper, saffron, rose, leather, vetiver, cedar and oud. Launched in 2015. PERFUMER – Jerome Epinette

So, let’s get to this new collection that highlights flowers with oud.
FLORAL OUD Orange Flower
FLORAL OUD Orange Flower with notes of champaca, frangipani, Egyptian orange blossom, patchouli, oud, vanilla and oakmoss.
OUD Orange Flower isn’t what I expected at all. This is not a bad thing!
OUD Orange Flower… Continue reading
In this month’s enabling post AKA a roundup of perfumes that I think are a good deal, I focused on “heavier” scents/notes that I start to crave in the fall. These are a mix of spicy scents and vampy ambers.
1. Natori by Natori EDP – So, this bad mama has been discontinued and this angers me. It’s such a great plummy floral-chypre in a beautiful bottle. It’s vampy with a glamorous Old Hollywood vibe. Anyway, it’s dirt cheap right now so get a bottle while you still can (assuming that… Continue reading | 4 Comments
