Diptyque Oyedo Perfume Review

Diptyque Oyedo

After a hiatus due to moving and traveling, I have decided to bombard this perfume blog with “weird eau de colognes” this week. It’s hot, humid and gross. I want to smell fresh and clean but with something that is a little more interesting than the usual. Like Mugler Hot Cologne, Diptyque Oyédo is a citrus with a twist.

Oyedo opens as a juicy, fruity orange mingling with a juicy lemon. There’s definitely something cool and mentholated in this that reminds me of a cough… Continue reading

Carthusia Corallium Perfume Review

Carthusia Corallium

It’s June. Even though it’s oddly mild for this time of the year, I’m having my yearly hankering for citrus-centric colognes. Last year I asked for some suggestions within this category; there were many great ones. But, apparently I can’t get enough of insubstantial citrus waters. I still want more. When it comes to aromatic citruses, I think Italians do a great job. The Carthusia line has many wonderful “colognes”and today I’m talking about Corallium.

Aftelier Curious Natural Perfume Review

Aftelier Curious

If you read EauMG, I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about Aftelier perfumes before. It’s a brand of indie, natural perfumes and flavors. Mandy Aftel, is also a teacher and author. I don’t think anyone else has influenced natural perfumery in the United States as much as Mandy. If this wasn’t enough, Aftelier opened the Aftelier Archive of Curious Scents in Berkeley, California. This is a little place where you can sniff a lot of raw materials (over 300… Continue reading

Atelier Cologne Clementine California Perfume Review

Atelier Cologne Clementine California

Atelier Cologne Clémentine California is perfume inspired by sunny Los Angeles. Los Angeles is one of those places that I love when I’m not there. I actually spend a lot of time thinking about moving there, fantasizing about year-round perfect weather, Art Deco architecture and endless sunshine. But, as soon as I’m there, I want to leave. I can’t really explain this phenomenon. I guess I love the idea of Los Angeles more than actually being there? I truly have a love/hate relationship with one of the… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Gallivant Brooklyn Perfume Review

Gallivant Brooklyn

Gallivant describes Brooklyn (the fragrance) as
It’s non-stop go-go-go. Energetic with a creative and intellectual fizz. Power-walking to a breakfast meeting over the Brooklyn Bridge. It’s life on the sidewalk, early summer breezes, the glow from the lighting in bars and diners, bright apartments with books. Cocktails with friends. A lazy May afternoon in the sun at Park Slope, warmth on the skin. Small flowers in the grass. Fresh air.
So, basically Gallivant’s Brooklyn is gentrified Brooklyn. And to those outside of the region, this is the Brooklyn they think of… Continue reading | 5 Comments
