Zoologist Bat Perfume Review

Zoologist Bat

Have you ever wanted to smell like you’ve awaken from your slumber in the mausoleum and need to go feed on the living? Have you ever wanted to smell like a reanimated corpse? Or what about a bat cave? If you answered “yes” to any of these, let me suggest you try Zoologist Bat.

Zoologist perfumes aren’t really meant to smell like their animal inspiration, but they usually take inspiration from their habitats. Bat smells like dirt and mud. I mean, exactly like mud. Underneath is an animalic… Continue reading | 5 Comments

Perfume Playoffs – Cherry Blossom Perfumes

cherry blossoms

It’s spring! FINALLY. I had the flu for over a week and by the time I felt like going outside, there were pink blossoms everywhere. It was like coming out of hibernation. My senses are still rather dull but I have a craving for pretty pink perfumes.

Since I still can’t really smell anything, I thought it would be a good time to launch a feature that I’ve been wanting to write. Instead of writing an extensive guide to perfumes with a predominate note (like this… Continue reading | 12 Comments

Olympic Orchids Sakura EDP Perfume Review

Olympic Orchids Sakura

Being that it’s spring, I’ve been reviewing perfumes that remind me of blossoms. Most of these scents have been borderline fantasy. They’ve been so perfect, an idealized version of nature. Olympic Orchids Sakura is a perfume inspired by spring blossoms that isn’t sweet or overly powdery.

Olympic Orchids Kingston Ferry EDP Perfume Review

Olympic Orchids

Let me start this review with the fact that I know exactly what the Kingston Ferry terminal smells like; I’m all too familiar with PNW ferries. And before I even heard about Olympic Orchids and many other indie perfume brands, I had fantasized about having a perfume that smelled like ferry terminals (and oddly I’ve always thought Dior Fahrenheit smells sort of like the Seattle Ferry terminal).

Kingston Ferry opens with something like motor oil and really dry woods. The flowers and plants in this fragrance are… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Olympic Orchids California Chocolate EDP Perfume Review

Olympic Orchids California Chocolate

With so many desserts based oround the orange/chocolate theme, one would expect to see more gourmand perfumes centered around this duo. It seems like a “natural” pairing. Olympic Orchids California Chocolate is an orange and chocolate perfume, but it’s not like some chocolate bar flavored with orange. California Chocolate is like being outside on a sunny, mild day hiding under the shade of a blossoming orange tree, sharing a bar of chocolate with someone that you really like.

California Chocolate smells like citrus chocolate. It opens with a… Continue reading | 6 Comments
