Nomenclature Lumen_esce EDP Perfume Review

Nomenclature Lumenesce

It’s an annual tradition on EauMG to feature “purple flowers” on the week of Nowruz/Spring Equinox. “Purple flowers” are what I call flowers that (usually) have purple blossoms and bloom in spring: lilacs, violets, iris, heliotrope, hyacinth and wisteria (when I’m feeling generous). These are the sort of florals that make me think of spring. Plus, it gives me an excuse to talk about some of my favorite floral notes.

Nomenclature is a fairly new perfume brand that puts the focus on… Continue reading

Byredo Mojave Ghost EDP Perfume Review

Byredo Mojave Ghost

There’s a flower that blooms in a region that I should spend more time in. Paper-like petals open just inches above dry desert. Byredo Mojave Ghost is inspired by  Mohavea confertiflora, or “ghost flower” that grow in the arid deserts of the Southwest (or Mexican Northwest).

The opening of Mojave Ghost is like a breeze. It’s a cool violet with a raspberry fruitiness that’s all being carried by a “mist” of sheer woods. This opening is bittersweet – like sweet, milky woods and tart… Continue reading | 3 Comments

Odin 03 Century EDT Fragrance Review

Odin 03 Century is inspired by ancient Cypress but of course, has the modern feel of an Odin fragrance. Odin describes Century as a “modern interpretation of the chypre family”. I’d call it an “amber chypre” or a “modern amber”.

Odin 03 Century EDP

Century opens as an astringent, leathery birch with a cool mint. From my description, you’d think that Century smells harsh but it isn’t. Under this there is a roundness and smootheness. There is a smokiness with powdered, smoldering amber incense. The “heart”… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Atelier Vanille Insensee Cologne Fragrance Review

Vanille Insensée (Insane Vanilla in French) sounds like a woody vanilla if you go by the notes alone. But, in reality Vanille Insensée is a sheer vanilla that verges on “clean” and is very modern and casual. This is one of those vanillas that one could technically wear in the summer. I don’t know may “sheer vanillas”.

Atelier Vanille Insensee fragrance

Vanille Insensée opens up as  vanilla. It’s creamy and dreamy but there is something else there. That something reminds me of the spicy freshness of… Continue reading | 10 Comments

J05EPH K 9/Clouds EDP Perfume Review

J05EPH K 9/Clouds EDP Perfume review

J05EPH K 9/Clouds is accurately named. When wearing this fragrance, I feel like I am falling backwards into a dreamy, soft down-feather mattress that never ends. 9/Clouds is soft and surrounds me. It’s the ultimate in comfort. 9/Clouds is like the perfect night’s sleep (which is a luxury for many of us).

9/Clouds is a a cool, rooty iris layered with apricot cream. The cocoa and a warm, clean musk show up. Now I can’t stop sniffing myself. This top is amazing. With… Continue reading | 4 Comments
