When perfume people rave about how unusual a fragrance is, I become leery. I find that even if they mean well, many perfume enthusiasts confused weirdness with complexity and they confuse complexity with quality which means that all unusual perfumes must be masterpieces. But, the deal is that sometimes unusual is just unusual. And sometimes unusual is the result of a “broken” or poorly composed fragrance. Question of the Week – What are your favorite perfumes to wear in the summer?
EauMG’s Answer: I’ll have a round-up of what I wore this summer in a few months…warning, it will be orange blossom heavy. Usually, I go for aldehydic florals like Caron Infini or Van Cleef & Arpels First. When I want beach, I’ll do Lucy B. Royal Green Fig & Vanilla Woods or Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. Others
I’ve never really experienced a perfume like LUSH The Smell of Weather Turning. Like many LUSH perfumes, it’s odd. Many of the Gorilla perfumes are “odd” but The Smell of Weather Turning is especially odd. It’s more of an experience than a perfume. It goes through so many changes during the wear making it one of the moodiest and most saturnine perfumes to touch my skin.
