1920’s Fashion – Get the Makeup Look of Greta Nissen

Greta Nissen 1925

I love this 1925 cover of actress Greta Nissen. It’s such a “doll” look. Adorable. Greta was one of those talented Hollywood actresses whose career was ruined by talkies. (She had a strong Norwegian accent that Hollywood didn’t want). Here’s what I did to achieve a similar 1920’s inspired look:

FACE: I applied Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation in Beige Claire and blended with my fingers. Under my eyes, I applied Covergirl Simply Ageless Concealer in Corrector and blended with my fingers… Continue reading | 6 Comments

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick Review in Sunset Peach

Wet n Wild Sunset Peach Lipstick review

Weekly Cheap Secret:

I remember Wet n Wild Lipsticks back in the day. They weren’t creamy and they smelled like baby powder. Wet n Wild has really improved their formula in all departments so I decided to give their lipstick another try. And it retails for under $1. So, I don’t have much to lose. I picked up a few shades and here’s my review and swatches of Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in 516C Sunset Peach… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick in Devilista Review

Evil Shades Deviant Lipstick in Devilista Swatch

I ordered 3 Deviant Lipsticks and a few other lippies from the indie cosmetic line, Evil Shades. And I’m happy that I did. I have been very happy with the 6 items that I ordered. I was going to review/swatch all the items in one article,  but each deserve their own spotlight. Especially a lipstick that is pin-up perfect, rockabilly red, and could easily be rocked by Robert Smith.

The Color: I ordered the Deviant Lipstick in Devilista, the perfect… Continue reading | 8 Comments

More 1930’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Joan Blondell

1930's blonde actress Joan Blondell

So, this photo is rouged to heck and I can’t get a similar look without doing the same, but I still like the makeup look. It’s a playful look that works for light to medium complexions. Here’s what I did to get a 1930’s Joan Blondell inspired look:

FACE: Being rouged, the face is quite “cakey”. With my fingers, I applied Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in Nude. People like to use a buffer brush with this foundation, I… Continue reading

More 1950’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Diana Dors

So, it’s New Year’s Eve. I wanted to do an over the top disco inspired look, but this pick of Diana Dors is festive enough. And I’m staying home. That’s never stopped me before, but I’m just not feeling like it today. Don’t you think Diana looks blonder than usual in this pic? It’s verging on silver to match her top! Anyways, I do love this look. This is a look that does work well with lighter complexions and those with light brown, blonde, and even grey hair. Here’s what I… Continue reading | 10 Comments
