Divine Divine is a perfume that wears you. This is perfume. It smells like perfume. It wasn’t created to smell like a Mediterranean holiday or exotic trade spice routes. Divine was meant to smell like perfume. Old-fashioned and glamorous French perfume for fabulous grown-up and glamorous ladies. Unfortunately, this style of perfumery is no longer in vogue and these types of “larger than life” women’s perfume are viewed as dated. Dated or not, I find Divine very beautiful and borderline obnoxious. Obnoxious-fantastic-elegant like excessive 1950’s French… Continue reading | 19 Comments
Juliette Has A Gun Midnight Oud is one of those fragrances that claims to be an oud, but it is really a rose-leather. And this isn’t a bad thing! Why are some fragrances ashamed of who they really are?
Midnight Oud wears linear on me but I like it. The opening is different than other rose-ouds I’m familiar with. It’s the same theme of rich saffron, smooth woods, and “new” leather except there is this “sharp” rose geranium. This rose is crisp, reminding me of… Continue reading | 11 Comments

I’m not intimidated by many fragrances. I love “heavy” scents. I usually wear too much perfume and I spritz on juice like I’m using the free tester at the store. But, I have to admit that I’m a bit intimidated by Geisha Noire. This is a black amber fragrance. It isn’t shy. I can see how this scent is like a mysterious character in a film noir. But, I also get a bit of mysticism from Geisha Noire. It’s like that dangerous siren first went to get… Continue reading | 14 Comments
There was lots of hype behind Bond No. 9 New York Oud as a “modernized and urbanized” oud fragrance. Bond No. 9 attempted to produce an oud without an incense/ancient feel. I like Bond No. 9 but I wouldn’t say that it is “new”. New York Oud is very Arabian to me, like a Montale. And yes, ancient but this is never a bad thing, in my opinion. My skin didn’t pick up on any creaminess or “urban forests”. I got… Continue reading | 9 Comments
