Chris Rusak is a Los Angeles-based indie perfume brand (oh, and a person that is an artist and teaches at The Institute of Art and Olfaction too) that has launched a trio of new perfumes.

Parfumerie Générale Louanges Profanes is a perfume wreathed in Biblical symbolism. When I wear the perfume, this makes sense. It’s somewhere between a pious grand-tante and Madonna’s The Immaculate Collection.

Louanges Profanes opens with a mothball-like lily and a lacquered jewelry chest. To summarize, it’s an indolic floral with sparkling notes and smooth woods. The floral is a funeral-style Asiatic lily, which I love. Louanges Profanes takes me all over the place. Amouage Figment Woman

Amouage has launched two new perfumes, Figment Woman and Figment Man.¹ They’re the two in the pretty aqua/blue bottles. Figment Woman is a white floral that manages to remind me of gardens in places much prettier than where I live, radiant floral perfumes of the late 80’s/early 90’s, Old Hollywood and Claude Monet paintings.
