Bois 1920 Vento Nel Vento EDP Perfume Review

Bois 1920 Vento nel Vento

Last year Bois 1920 launched the Limited Art Collection to celebrate the “loyal customers of the Bois 1920 brand”. So, to honor their customers they said, “Hey, we’re only making 1,920 bottles of this perfume and you can prove that you really love us by plopping down $236 for a bottle”. Yeah, that sounds snarky but they’re sort of asking for it. I mean who are the other perfumes in the brand for? Their disloyal fans? But, let’s move on. There’s less snark… Continue reading

Aquolina Pink Sugar EDT Perfume Review

Aquolina Pink Sugar

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume

Poor, poor Pink Sugar.

Aquolina Pink Sugar seems to be the go-to phrase that some people use when they are calling a fragrance disgusting. Spray a scent (any scent) on a blotter and if the perfumista says “Pink Sugar” then that means it’s over. That means the perfume is viewed as too sweet, too feminine, too childish. Ramon Monegal Lovely Day EDP Perfume Review

Ramon Monegal Lovely Day

Ramon Monegal Lovely Day is sweet with an edge. And that’s how I want my lovely days to be.

Lovely Day opens with a juicy, fruity cassis with a sugar cube iris. The fragrance becomes candied, but in a floral way. It reminds me of rose pastilles and blackcurrant jam. There is an addition of a… Continue reading | 10 Comments

Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille EDP Perfume Review

Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille

Did you need more proof that benzoin and vanilla belong together? Well, if you did, keep on reading.

Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille, you are one delicious fragrance. I get this opening of a “dark” vanilla and black licorice. Here’s the deal with the licorice, it’s super faint. Many wearers don’t notice it. I’m a lover of licorice. I notice this waxy black licorice with this sweet vanilla benzoin. It’s subtle and a wonderful addition to Un Bois Vanille. The vanilla mixes with toasted coconut flakes… Continue reading | 9 Comments

Serge Lutens Boxeuses EDP Perfume Review

Serge Lutens Boxeuses bell jar

Serge Lutens Boxeuses is a perfume in the exclusive range. I try to avoid testing perfumes that I can’t get my hands on, but a sample of this ended up in my hands. And I’m happy it did.

Boxeuses (female boxers…um, OK) opens with a plum juiciness with a hint of tart citrus that reminds me a bit of a Serge Lutens’ more somber version of the opening of Mugler Womanity EDP.  And there’s more, of course. I get the vanilla and the candied licorice of Serge Lutens Un
