Etat Libre d’Orange Noel au Balcon EDP Perfume Review

Etat Libre d'Orange Noel au Balcon

I’ve never been a person that likes “Christmas” scents. I find them nauseating and honestly, I don’t have any positive associations with this time of year. I wanted to try Noel au Balcon for the nigella note. Nigella is a seed with a spicy, herbal “green” flavor that is used in Armenian string cheese. It’s one of my favorite spices. Because it has an “onion-y” quality*, this is why I suspect it isn’t used in perfumery. However, seeing it listed made me curious and… Continue reading | 6 Comments

i Profumi di Firenze Melograno Selvatico EDP Perfume Review

i profumi di firenzePomegranates are delicious. They’re beautiful and the fruit smells good. However, I’ve yet to find any fragrance with pomegranate as the main player that smells good on skin.

i Profumi di Firenze Melograno Selvatico opens with a green, bitter floralness that reminds me of lemon blossoms. There is a humid and aquatic, fresh-air element to Melograno Selvatico. EauMG’s Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2013

Jayne Mansfield

I love to create gift guides. But, I have to admit that I don’t like creating Mother’s Day gift guides. Why? It’s difficult for me to group “moms” all in the same category. Moms are diverse people with differing interests and with a wide age span.  It’s difficult to be like “buy this for someone just because they probably wiped your snot when you were a kid”. So when I create a Mother’s Day gift guide, I have to go be inspired by the mothers in my life… Continue reading | 8 Comments

HEELEY Bubblegum Chic Parfum Extrait Perfume Review

Heeley Bubblegum Chic

Bubblegum niche. This doesn’t bother me. I love kitsch and I think there should be more humour in the perfume world. Bubblegum Chic has the components of a traditional, feminine white floral with the addition of clean musks and fruits that all of the kids are into these days. Right?

Bubblegum Chic is a sweeter white floral. It opens with indolic jasmine and cooling tuberose with peaches. The jasmine in this is intense. The tuberose is intense. But, that’s what I expected. Even though I… Continue reading | 7 Comments

By Kilian In the City of Sin EDP Perfume Review

By Kilian In the City of Sin

By Kilian has been irking me this past year. The brand seems to have given up on having an artistic direction and have been very open about their target markets (Asian Tales). And now we have the In The Garden of Good and Evil Collection.

Last summer when I was in Vegas, I kept smelling By Kilian fragrances on all of the tourists. Obviously Las Vegas has been a great market for this line. I kid you not, I smelled Incense
