St. Clair Scents Perfume Review Roundup

St. Clair Scents is a new indie perfume line located in Vermont.

When I posted my samples of St. Clair Scents on Instagram Stories, someone responded with “It’s Chef Keller’s butter lady’s perfumes!” with a heart emoji. I was completely confused by this. After doing a little more research, it made sense. The perfumer, Diane St. Clair is an owner of a homestead creamery that does supply Chef Thomas Keller (The French Laundry, etc.) as well as other well-known restaurants with butter.¹ Diane says that she approaches fragrance like she does her artisanal creamery… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume

Being a perfume lover comes with its (un)fair share of heartbreaks. When you take up this “hobby”, you risk falling in love with a perfume that will be discontinued without an explanation or reformulated without an announcement. With a name like “Beach Hut Man”¹, people may try this wanting/expecting coconut and salt water. If you do, just stick to stuff like Creed Virgin Island Water and leave this new one from Amouage alone.

PURPLE FLOWERS WEEK 2018

It’s an annual tradition on EauMG to feature “purple flowers” on the week of Nowruz/Vernal Equinox. “Purple flowers” are what I call flowers that (usually) have purple blossoms and bloom in spring: lilacs, violets, iris, heliotrope, hyacinth and wisteria (when I’m feeling generous). These are the sort of florals that make me think of spring. Plus, it gives me an excuse to talk about some of my favorite floral notes.

When it comes to actual flowers, not perfume soliflores, my favorite is hyacinth… Continue reading | 3 Comments

Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau Perfume Review

Diptyque L'Ombre dans L'Eau

Rose Week 2018 – The Blackcurrant Rose

It’s Rose Week on EauMG! This is the annual celebration of rose-centric perfumes! This week I’m reviewing 5 fragrances that display a different aspect of rose perfumes.

When Diptyque launched Eau Rose in 2012, their copy emphasized how they were finally paying tribute to the beauty of a rose. This was odd for a few reasons, but the biggest one being that the brand launched something very similar in 1983 – L’Ombre dans L’Eau.

L’Ombre… Continue reading | 4 Comments
