Chabaud Eau de Source Perfume Review

Chabaud Eau de Source

I meet a lot of people that were young adults in the 1980’s that absolutely can not stand huge 80’s perfumes like Dior Poison or Giorgio Beverly Hills. I totally understand. They spent a decade+ gagging on syrupy plums and powdery tuberoses. Those huge fragrances were in every office, school, bus stop, restaurant, etc. Their reaction to these are like my reaction to many aquatic florals. I’m not really surprised by their confession. The last time green perfumes were “in” was decades ago, before Millennials were even born. They don’t really fit with the current olfactory aesthetics, so they aren’t really familiar. People often define green perfumes to me as “rigid” or “uncomfortable”. I think of green perfumes like I do “green juice”… Continue reading | 2 Comments

House of Matriarch Trillium Natural Perfume Review

House of Matriarch Trillium

In perfumery, there are just some perfumes that you are partial to before you even smell them. As someone that writes about perfume, I try to be impartial until I try a fragrance, but it’s difficult. Before I sniffed house of Matriarch Trillium, I was drawn to it. Trillium are little forest flowers that grow in North America. Like all little forest flowers, it’s surrounded in symbolism, myth and medicine. Apparently, Georgia is the state with the most variety of trillium species… Continue reading | 21 Comments
