Hourglass Panoramic Lip Liner & Extreme Sheen Lip Gloss Review – Raven & Muse

Hourglass Liner & Gloss

One of my favorite cosmetics brands, Hourglass, has launched new colors in their lip products, Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss and Panoramic Long Wear Lip Liner.

Panoramic Long Wear Lip Liner

I’m a fan of lip liners, even when they aren’t in vogue. I’m a dedicated lip liner user and I’ve tried so many brands over the years.

This liner is one that you sharpen. The other end features a high-quality blending brush. The outside of the liner represents the shade of… Continue reading | 6 Comments

1930’s Fashion – Get the Makeup Look of Ida Lupino

1940's Ida Lupino

Ida Lupino was often referred to as “a model of modern feminist filmaking“. She often chose feminist acting roles (after a few budget “bad girl” roles) and in the early 50’s she was the first woman to direct a film-noir. She was also a writer and producer. My best guess is that this is a pic of Ida from the 1930’s. 1960’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Anouk Aimee

Makeup look of Anouk Aimee

Pink maribou! False eyelashes! What isn’t there to love? Here’s what I did to get a flirty 1960’s look inspired by the lovely French actress, Anouk Aimée.

EYES: Being a look that is all about the eyes, I started there. First I applied, e.l.f. Essentials Eyelid Primer as an eye makeup foundation. While that is drying, I applied Alima Pure Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Raven, a dark brown, to brows with a hard, slanted brow brush. For… Continue reading | 10 Comments

More 1950’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Arlene Dahl

1950's style icon Arlene Dahl

I love this classic makeup look of Arlene Dahl’s. It’s just as elegant today as was in the 1950’s. A line of black liquid eyeliner and untouchable red lips are always a winner in my book. I’m calling this one the “cocktail party” look. This classic evening look works for so many complexions. Here’s what I did to get this 1950’s Arlene inspired look:

FACE: Arlene’s complexion is flawless. I’m jealous. With my Elizabeth Arden Foundation Brush, I… Continue reading | 5 Comments

More of the 1930’s: Get the Look of Jean Arthur

November 11th, 1939

I love this “fresh” look of Jean Arthur. It’s a simple vintage look that looks good on a variety of complexions. I promise that the orangey lip will make blue eyes pop. To get this look:

FACE: Apply a liquid foundation such as Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup and blend. Apply concealer if needed. A stick concealer like NARS Concealer is nice for the under eye area and blemishes. Apply a pressed powder such as Neutrogena Healthy Skin Pressed Powder in… Continue reading | 3 Comments
