Byredo Black Saffron Perfume Review

Byredo Black Saffron

It’s been a really busy summer for me so I haven’t been posting that many perfume reviews here on the blog. I recently had an oral surgery that forced me to slow down. I thought this would be a good time to catch up on some perfume samples I have that I have yet to sniff. Well, I haven’t. Deep into my malaise, I’ve only been craving a few fragrances. And oddly enough one of those is Byredo Black Saffron.

I’m always surprised by how fruity Black… Continue reading | 2 Comments

EauMG’s Guide to Watermelon Perfumes

watermelon perfume guide

When it comes to perfumery, you’re usually going to see watermelon treated a couple of ways. The first one being that the melon will translate as “aquatic”. For lack of a better word, the watermelon adds wetness, an illusion of water. In this treatment, it can sometimes come across like a sliced cucumber, “ambiguous melon: otherwise not specified” or the sort of “ocean air” only found in perfumery and not in reality. The second way is a synthetic watermelon flavoring that for those of us in the U.S… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Floraiku Perfume Reviews – Part 1

Floraïku is a perfume line launched in 2017 from the folks behind the niche perfume line, Memo Paris. It’s a line of perfumes inspired by Japan complete with the Japonism bottles and marketing.

These were first available in Europe and like Memo Paris, this haiku inspired fragrance line is in a lot of retail outlets in the United States now. I’ve finally got my hands on samples of the entire line (they have a discovery set!). Over the next couple of days, I’ll be posting reviews of this line. So, let’s get started… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Atelier des Ors Choeur des Anges Perfume Review

Atelier des Ors Choeur des Anges

Atelier des Ors has launched a trio of new perfumes in their White Collection. These perfumes are primarily citrus/florals, but done in the Atelier des Ors style…they have some heft and aren’t fleeting “eau de colognes”.

I was immediately drawn to Choeur des Anges because of its energetic, effervescent opening. The opening of Choeur des Anges (Choir of Angels) is a luxury creamsicle. It’s a juicy, vivid blood orange with a hint of honeyed sweetness. The blackcurrant adds a “musky tartness” to the world’s fanciest… Continue reading

Aether Arts Strawberry Sling & Iris Laughs Perfume Reviews

I’m reviewing two fruity fragrances from indie brand Aether Arts.

Aether Arts Strawberry Sling

STRAWBERRY SLING

We don’t usually see indie or niche brands tackle strawberry in perfume. The opening of Strawberry Sling is like sipping limoncello in an herb garden. It’s like a sweet, syrupy lemon and mint. It’s also ozonic, like a breeze. Strawberry Sling becomes even more tangy with an addition of juicy strawberries accompanying the tart lemon zest. What I like about Strawberry Sling is that it has greenness from herbs that keep it fresh… Continue reading
