En Voyage Perfumes Cafe Cacao EDP Perfume Review

Envoyage Cafe Cocao

En Voyage Café Cacao is a gourmand that is in the Souvenir de Chocolate Trio. It’s a perfume that is inspired by a the sort of decadent café mocha that Marie Antoinette would have had.

Café Cacao is as you can imagine, a chocolate perfume. Chocolate perfumes can go into a few different directions¹ and this is a sweet, creamy chocolate with some spice. When it opens it’s like an after-dinner treat of chocolate mousse and sweet, spicy pipe tobacco. There’s a hint of warmth from florals… Continue reading | 2 Comments

Parfums de Rosine Majalis EDP Perfume Review

Parfums de Rosine Majalis

Parfums de Rosine Majalis is a perfume inspired by rose majalis AKA cinnamon rose (which I hear has no scent). Majalis is a spicy rose. I think of it almost like a rose hot toddy – rose, cinnamon, honey with warmth.

Majalis opens with a glimmer of citrus and spices, reminding me of an orange pomander except replace the clove with cinnamon sticks. Majalis is a sticky honey and cinnamon spice. The rose in this is like dried rose petals steeped in mulled cider (or a hot toddy with… Continue reading | 3 Comments

Thierry Mugler Angel Sucree EDT Perfume Review

Angel Eau Sucree Perfume

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular (Limited Edition) Perfume

The world has a million and one Mugler Angel flankers; yet, every time I hear of a new one, I want to try it. Why? Because I think the Thierry Mugler flankers are often “better” than the originals. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Originals, but I tend to like the subtle differences in the flankers.

Angel Eau Sucrée is 2014’s summer limited edition of Angel. It’s one of those “childhood memories”, sweet and… Continue reading | 2 Comments

Phaedon Rue des Lilas EDT Perfume Review

Phaedon Rue des Lilas

Purple Flowers Week 2014

I’m fairly certain that Phaedon Rue des Lilas has been discontinued. And this is a shame because it was one of the few that I liked when this brand launched.

Rue des Lilas opens as a honeyed, powdery floral – heliotrope, lilac and possibly some orange blossom. The heart is a powdery, waxy lily with tons of indoles. This is not a squeaky clean spring floral. This one has some hints of worn lingerie under the clean, powdery florals. It… Continue reading | 9 Comments

Jul et Mad Stilettos on Lex EDP Perfume Review

Jul et Mad Stilettos on Lex

Jul et Mad Stilettos on Lex is a perfume inspired by inspired by the rich bitches of New York. It’s more Sex and the City worship (a show that I’ve never ever watched, can you believe that?) in the fashion and beauty world.  Out of the three Jul et Mad perfumes, a new luxury, niche perfume house with ties to NYC and France, Stilettos on Lex is the most “accessible” and I imagine they doing very well with it. It seems to be carefully… Continue reading | 10 Comments
