Comme des Garçons Amazingreen is one of those perfumes that I knew I would have to revisit one day. I had hyped it up in my head pre-launch. I wanted to smell like gunpowder and pepper. Quick update of my life: I’m graduating in May. This is great. But, I’m also stressed and feel overwhelmed. I’m in the middle of a master’s thesis that I really need to wrap up soon. There’s a lot of pressure. Outside of this, life goes on.¹ I really shouldn’t be blogging about perfume. But, then again, how much time can you reserve for work? I need a break. August was one of those months that felt like it was just dragging along. I was so over the heat and was sick of hiding away in my A/C bunker. I felt guilt for being hostile towards summer when I know winter is going to be terrible but really, summer is abusive and I’m going to complain. As the kids says these days, “Sorry not sorry”.
The launching of Girl was a big deal for the “mainstream world” for a few reasons:
Reason 1- The the celeb in this case had enough sense to not only align themselves with a designer, but a designer line that produces a lot of good, trendy perfumes. AND a perfume that crosses over into mainstream/designer and niche. This makes folks take this perfume “more seriously”. I’m a fan of the Comme des Garçons Play perfume line. It’s a fun line that fits the clothing brand perfectly. I have a feeling with launches like Amazingreen (which wasn’t amazing or green) and Black, that these will be outshadowed by similar sounding perfumes from the same perfume house within a year of launching. I’m not going to let you forget these, OK.
