Viktor & Rolf Magic Dancing Roses Perfume Review

ROSE WEEK 2019 – A Saffron Rose

It’s Rose Week on EauMG! This is the annual celebration of rose-centric perfumes! This week I’m reviewing 5 fragrances that display a different aspect of rose perfumes.

Viktor and Rolf Magic Dancing Roses is a fruity rose. Initially, I get a large swig of cherry-scented brandy. The opening is spiced with a leather-y undertone BUT it’s still airy, light and fruity. (and BOOZY because of that cherry). This is like a saffron rose shimmering in gossamer. The saffron and spice in this vaguely reminds me of things like Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge

EauPen Thread – I’m Sick of It!

What perfume note or style are you currently tired of?
OK, so this question isn’t asking if there is something within the industry you’re sick of sniffing. I’d like to know if there is a note/genre that you have burnt yourself out on or never really liked in the first place.

My answer: amber. I went through a crazed amber stage; it was all I wore. Then one day, I was so sick of it. I had burnt myself out (like if someone that thought eating cake everyday for a… Continue reading | 20 Comments

EnVoyage Perfumes Indigo Vanilla EDP Perfume Review

Envoyage Indigo Vanilla

Indigo Vanilla is a perfume in the latest trio, Souvenir de Chocolate, by indie brand, Envoyage Perfumes. This perfume is “Inspired by the sensuous and sultry jazz of the 20’s, and the creamy goodness of New Orleans hot chocolate made with steamed milk, sumptuous whipped cream, and topped with violette sucrée”. My nose doesn’t pick up on the jazz and New Orleans inspiration with this one. Instead I’m reminded of a Christmas. So, here’s my Christmas in July review…

Indigo Vanilla opens with cinnamon sugar. It’s… Continue reading

Ormonde Jayne Tiare EDP Perfume Review

Ormonde Jayne Tiare

Like most people that have tried Ormonde Jayne Tiare, I expected Tiare to be a coconut gardenia fragrance. You know, another “beach” scent. Tiare surprised me because it’s like a “tropical chypre”.

Tiare opens with a heady blend of orange blossom and citrus peel over dry cedar. Limes with dewy florals. Peachy, transparent tropical flowers. The dry-down of Tiare has to be an homage to classic feminine chypres. Mossy and green with sandalwood and musk.

Tiare reminds me of perfumes like Chanel Cristalle

HEELEY Ophelia EDP Perfume Review

Heeley Ophelia

For some reason I’ve always had issues with beautiful perfumes. I’m drawn to perfumes with some ugliness to them – cumin, leather, filthy indoles. Over the past year, I’ve fully embraced beautiful perfumes – perfumes more beautiful than reality, perfumes that don’t seem to belong on earth. HEELEY Ophélia could be a perfume that fits into this category. Its fault is that it is so beautiful that it seems unworldly. It’s so perfect that it makes me nervous. ¹

Ophelia opens as a big, fresh floral. It’s a… Continue reading | 10 Comments
