Mainstream Monday: Sniffing a Popular Perfume
Let’s get this out of the way: I am not the target demographic for any Ariana Grande perfume. I’m going to keep that in mind while I sample the newest Ariana Grande perfume, Moonlight¹. I like Vilhelm Don’t Tell Jasmine because it reminds me of glamorous, rowdy 70’s supermodels like Jerry Hall and oddly enough, nights in Mexico. Also, it’s jasmine. And I love jasmine.
Don’t Tell Jasmine opens with a fruity crème de cassis that immediately brought to mind a kir royale. The citrus adds a champagne-like effervescence. Underneath all of this is a skanky jasmine. Gallivant is a new perfume brand founded by Nick Steward¹, former creative director of L’Artisan. This is a line of destination perfumes…perfumes inspired by place. The brand currently highlights four cities: Istanbul, London, Brooklyn and Tel Aviv.
